I tend to visit here every morning to check out birthdays ( JohnV and I are birthday monitors I fear) and then, subject to the days plans and the unread content, I may spend some time reading and if moved 'spouting', before getting on with the day ... returning when sat in the evening. However over the last few weeks, with little else significant going on, I would have expected my own, and indeed everyone elses time spent here to have increased dramatically. However the opposite seems to be the case. I know on occasions I (and others here) have allowed some posters to 'get under the skin' and then we put a bit of distance between us for a while. But there seems to be a lot less general traffic here than usual ... and at a time I'd expect lots more because of the isolation. Any theories ? Rog

Well there are no Volockies for me to encounter and moan about, so that is 50% of my contribution ruined!
(Which is a roundabout way of saying that since no boating is going on for most of us, surely it canβt be too surprising that a boating forumβs traffic has reduced)

For me boating has took a back seat, more interested and reading up/googling/buying garden stuff so I don't visit as much.
The forum is not large enough to cover lots of different subjects, at the minute its all about the virus really, I get board of reading peoples opinions on the subject.
And a certain members shit posts also bore me, maybe I should block him.

Well I will have to give an update on the building of the Bridge of Sighs Much Swearing Actually it has been progressing quite well although it's probably good that the only neighbour I've got is that oik in the caravan (and if he get's driven away I won't cry) I have been cutting up 6mm plate with a steel cutting circular saw and the noise from that is truly biblical (ear plug a nd ear defenders) I (and I expect quite a few others) have not been doing much of any real interest, just getting by. I'm not a prolific starter of threads and those are usually to do with commercial boating on the Trent/Ouse/Humber/Hull that hasn't been happening for me (although some of the barges are still working, you can't work at safe distances on a small tug so I have been missing out. There are only so many posts you can do about what you had for dinner. My hat's off to those who manage to start things off

I have made a conscious decision to only listen to the news once per day and to mute the radio on the hour to avoid the same endless stuff about lack of testing, lack of ppe etc. As I have started my rant, I would put Preti Patel in charge of health and she can kick civil servants all she likes if it gets them actually doing their jobs. So I also avoid this forum most of the day as too much is about NOT being able to boat etc etc.

I think it's possible that with more time on their hands a lot of people have suddenly found round tuits here and there and taken them in hand.

The York job is running again but at the moment it's just being shuttled to Queens staithe but he was checking for a run to Goole

I'm still dipping in and out when I pick my laptop up and turn it on... preferring shorted threads as when it's been a few days between visits, I don't have the patience to read through everything to pick out the decent bits... I'm guilty of course of waffle myself I admit.
In other news, I've now finished 'The Good Life' on Brit Box and have gone back to 'Spooks'

Week six and this place is beginning to grind to a halt.
I would have expected it to be busier with the increase in uncommitted time, but day by day we seem to lose more and more visitors, guests or members.
