We would have been on the Llangollen I believe.
We'd planned to leave the boat at Swanley and have a few days at home visiting family before disappearing into darkest Wales (well a bit of it).
I wondered what you're missing most from the imposition of restrictions ?

I'd have been camping in my camper and walking on the moors and hills somewhere in peace and quiet. To be honest I have the peace and quiet recently without going anywhere but I miss the exercise struggling up and down the steep hills.

Well I'd have brought a car and gone off to check out friends around the country... I do chat almost daily to one but its not the same. I may or may not have been able to get a dog....atm that idea shelved as whatever available locally is stupid money and all those bulldog type breeds that I hate.
oh and of course I'd have trekked over Worms Head a few times, bored everyone with pictures and been and had the most yummy carrot cake and coffee which they make in a local coffee shop up there.....

Not one of those odd breeds from Eastern Europe that you have to buy, but someone's much loved pooch that they can't look after any more. That seems to be what most mature dog owners in Bristol are doing. Last week I met a lady who had taken a 5 month old beagle that was an unwanted Xmas gift - a lovely dog.

Strange how the idea of jumping on a train and going somewhere is suddenly quite appealing. Must admit it's the visiting family I miss most ... get home, in the car, and just work our way round them ... ah well. Very wise patty ... waiting for the car and especially the dog. Rog

We would probably have been on the Weaver as part of our trip to Lancs/Yorks. As we'd planned the trip to run over 6 months I'd already made arrangements for a deputy bass player and told family that we'd pop down by train to see them a few times (we weren't originally going to run a car with us but now glad we did once I suspected this all was going to happen). As for the band, they have had to cancel many gigs anyway.
So actually the only real difference is not travelling far. We are pretty much doing what we normally do but with less people to chat to on the tow path. If the lock down carries on for many months then it will be difficult not seeing family and friends especially as its mums 100th BD in August.

I would be sat at my desk waiting to go the pub tonight.. I forgot that one. Yes we would be spending money in pubs on the way up North. It's surprising how much we've saved so far by not doing so!

Money always goes elsewhere.. I have saved a few quid from to going the pub a couple of times a week, but now have spent £100s on the garden, bbq shack/bar with fridge, garden sofa, new sail awning.. Best to spend it now on this as I fear the pubs are going to be shut all year, the bit about social distancing to remain all year from the govt has confirmed it for me. Hopefully we will be allowed to have small controlled social gatherings at our own properties.

At 1230 on a Friday I'd have been almost in Eskola with my departure time of 1220 from Kannus 'school centre' (two schools there). After my 1215 departure from Takalo school the other side of town. And then 1250 from Takalo school to Pitkänen potato yard (half-way to Himanka) where I reverse. Now it's a walk to our Post Office, and to ask at the hardware store about lengths of wood, for today we may be re-erecting one of our wood cages in the garden, and I shall be making it into a much more sturdy structure. Sunny again, so off to chase another sunset? 2000 litres of diesel have not run in and out of this bus's engine in 28 days of it standing and not carrying wild animals school kids to their formal education.

I'd probably somewhere near the Azores by now on my transatlantic voyage. Looking for some diesel.

Would that be in the survival 'bunker' @magnetman ? What's the trip to the G&S like Trina ... you know I'm not a river boy in a canal boat ... is the Avon good for regular moorings on the way ? Rog
