Apologies - I lack the nous and technology to link but if you have a current boat licence you, too, will probably have received the same "news".
Keep safe and well x

Your licence expiry date is advanced by one month ... a free month.
Mine expires end of November so I now don't have to renew until end of December.

I don’t really get the extra month bit? It’s not well written by I think they mean the expiry of everyone’s licence will be extended for a month. Less clear whether this will be a free month, or whether the old expiry date will resume at the subsequent renewal. Ie current validity period now 13 months, next and subsequent 12 months, vs current period now 13 months, next 11 months.

How does it help the situation? Or people in a difficult situation at the min?

I believe it is intended as a gesture of solidarity ... we can't boat so they allow a 'free' month.
Rog
ETA after much discussion we came to the conclusion the missive gave us a 'free' month ... other interpretations whilst plausible, render the publication pointless in our view ... but it is unclear.

Are you implying that it would be unfeasible for CRT to emit a “pointless publication”?

I think the intention was to help people whose licences are up for renewal now, many of whom will currently be on reduced incomes. They then joined a few dots and realised it would be unfair to grant concession only to those whose licences happened to expire this month, so gave it to everyone.

A bit of a sop but better than nothing? Who writes this stunted prose for CRT? My 8 year old could do better. And its an 8 year old cat.

I think it’s the usual, not thought through properly knee jerk reaction from cart. If people’s incomes are reduced for a prolonged time, then one months licence fee isn’t going to make any difference. Is it an example of corporate virtue signaling?
