Amazingly it's the first of May in the troubled year of 2020.
I was quietly contemplating how much can change in a year ... when I consider the worries we had last year, this year is a definite improvement personally.
We were on the Llangollen, about to abhort our trip due to my knee, and family health issues, arranging to leave the boat at Swanley Marina.
So where were you, and what were you doing 1 May 2019 ?

Now nobody's looking JohnV ... what does 'billy' mean with reference to you sea going chappies ? Rog www.diy-wood-boat.com/Handy-Billy.htmlIt's a dead simple, non rusting, throw it in a corner till you need it bit of kit. You can use it for anything where you need a bit of extra strength.

Well, we (as in the former Bosun and Capt Ellis) were loitering around Nantwich on route to Llangollen ... encountering strange folks... and then we made our way up the Llangollen

I think it's a given now that "every year" will be thwarted for Ellis... it's only a matter of time until we get abducted by aliens and then returned to the Bermuda Triangle... everytime I hear a noise outside, I put the tin foil on my head! Actually - being abandoned by Andy still with 12 weeks to go last year didn't turn out TOO bad... I asked for help and was given it on several ocasions by kind-hearted boaters... financially, a side from solicitors fees for divorce, when I submit the tax return I'll about break even - THIS year was to have been a better one ... hmmm least said about THAT the better... ROLL on 2021 - what ELSE could possible go wrong?

We were getting ready for our first trip on the Anderton lift & onto the Weaver. The trip on the lift is great and I thoroughly enjoyed my (too brief) trip on the Weaver .... I promised myself a return at some time.

Never been on the Weaver. First attempt we decided to do it on the return trip ... and ended up not returning that way but doing the Huddersfield narrow and Standedge tunne. Second time the gear box and drive plate failed. Third time lucky maybe Rog
