It felt strange, sitting out on deck this afternoon, boat dressed overall. Eating luch washed down with Pinot Grigio (I know I sad I would open a bottle of bubbly but it just didn't seem right opening a bottle of English bubbly just for me).
Very few people to see all day, the police were around a couple of times (there had been reports of groups of youngsters out on boats) They were the only people I chatted to all day
Must have been upstream of here as I only saw one boat all day (bloke with a mooring a few hundred yards downstream starts it up and runs up and down then moors up again for another week)
Just about to go out and take down the special ensign and house flag (they were too damned expensive to leave up) the rest I will pack away tomorrow. It is quite a faff folding up the bunting so that it doesn't come out next time as a damn great knot.
Even if it was just for me, it was important to remember and commemorate the sacrifices of so many (including members of my family)

Scones and tea were lovely. It's not pronounced "scone", it's pronounced "scone", you ignoramus.

Ah well, Queenie said the right thing as always. I was worried she might draw some comparison between WW2 and some Chinese bug, but she is too sensible to fall for that one.
And then we get Vera moaning on about the monotonous wartime diet. “Whale meat again” etc.

We were moored near the bus station at Gallows bridge again today... the 2 old birds who were there yesterday, said they'd drop by for a drink with us AND to commemorate both VE and the anniversary of one of their fathers deaths...
They've both been having a rough and lonely time of it of late, so last night - expecting them to turn up as promised at some point, I prepared a little picnic for us ... anti-pasta, bbq calzones, pork pies and a few sarnies ... along with a couple of bottles of cheap bubbly stuff.
When they arrived on the benches, I toddled out (a couple of gins ahead of them I admit) with foil plates and champagne flutes for them... (socially distantly served of course) - you'd think I'd given them the moon.... it was really lovely.
The swan couple and their 11 signets dig a glide by so we fed them and after we'd finished drinking, they sat on the bow whilst we re-located to back outside Pennine cruisers.
They toddled on their way a couple of hours ago and now we're back inside with a fire log burning away - nice end to the day. Even Queenie went down quite well

You're a good man Mark ( quaysider ) and deserve better fortunes. Rog He is. I've met Mark and he is genuinely a nice person. I feel a bit guilty about not being "on the other bus" because if I was I'm sure I could cheer him up a bit. Here is a photo of the great man himself.

I've just had a pop up for Grecian 2000, some user must have triggered that.
Anyway isn't hair loss triggered by an excess of testosterone / aka manliness. I'd be worried if I wasn't going grey. Perhaps it needs real female body heat and softness, home cooking, even a little nagging, to trigger testosterone release.
