OK -as most of you know, 'Ellis' hasn't had much luck (well not good luck at any rate) sine the very beginning...
Year 1 - Started 'the business' in the driest summer ever with Marple locks buggering things up and the L & L being closed... along with the Rochdale and HNC...
Year 2- mum died, Marple over ran, Andy and I began divorce proceedings mid way through.
Year 3 - Killed off before it began thanks to Covid 19...
Can't get the business rate related "grants" Can't get "help for the self employed" as it was 80% of PROFITS (loss year 1, break even year 2) Can't get any of the business continuity loans.
TODAY however, I CAN apply for the "bounce back loan" -which can be based upon an estimate of 2019 TURNOVER rather than profits - ergo, I've just submitted an application...
Its only a max of 25% of turn over but it's better than nothing and is payment free for 12 months followed by 5 years at 2.5%
I shall report back as to whether I actually DO get any money...
Meanwhile - Universal Credit IS going through and has increased from £320 ish to £420 ish per month...
IF I can actually get the loan, it will be eaten up by crane lifts and lorry transports in order to get off this now closed (again) canal...
WHEN I finally get off the L & L - I dont think I'm gonna come back ... ever!

I would hope and expect it to be opened again once we are allowed to go cruising. Or do you know something I don’t?

I can’t believe you can’t get from Skipton to Leeds in a modern narrowboat. The water level issues are worst on the summit pound.

It's a water shortage... Bingley to Wigan - YET the pumps are still on (making the reservoirs even emptier) whilst no boating is permitted anyway... the level in Skipton is a couple of inches above normal and is acutally going back up the springs branch and back into ellerbeck.
It beggers belief.
The "notice" says End of May - longer if no sustained rainfall ...

WHEN I finally get off the L & L - I dont think I'm gonna come back ... ever! All in all, a real bummer. One of the reasons I sold my day hire boat was the number of stoppages, couldn't see that improving... I'm glad you've been able to get some finance to at least keep you going, but it's a bummer that you're going to have to blow it all on urgent business costs. Personally I've lost all my income and can't get universal credit. I'm now living even more frugally than usual, hoping that my savings last me until my house sales go through. Better news on this front, the gun toting African left of his own accord, saves me £115 quid in bailiff fees. On the flipside I now have to pay council tax @ £100 a month until it's sold. I've agreed to sell it for £10K less than I'd previously agreed which isn't great but the most important thing right now is to end this nightmare and move on.

Did you take foxys advice about letting his car tyres down? Seems to have achieved the desired results.👍

MPs are to receive an inflation-busting 3.1 per cent pay rise, bringing their basic annual salary to almost £82,000. MPs will also receive increased expenses to cover the cost of staffing their parliamentary offices.

yep
All locks Between Bingley and Wigan are "locked" - some have been made "un tamperable" too... apparently...
Another boat "stuck" here with crt waving their "until we decide to reopen it flag" are considering a sharing a crane with me - we can get lifted out at Niffany farm apparently...
BEFORE we actually book it, we're going to wait until the end of May and then see if CRT might work in shades of grey and allow us to get off the canal - perhaps 'booking passage' through the locks that are locked... I mean, WHAT is the point of a business licence when they don't let you?

Yes just after niffany bridge where the pull in is next to the road is it the place a lot of boats get craned in and out near Skipton. I’d ask for a refund of the liscence fee if I was you. I bet Ian is pulling his hair out as well?

He's been VERY good to me... he's loaned me a car to go to the dentist in, done some welding, blacked Ellis and continues to be available for pumpouts and boatyard services by appointment....

IF anyone is planning on using the Llangollen or Huddersfield canal NEXT year... I'd think again as I'm gonna live on them so chances are they'll be shut!
