Would anyone care to speculate on when the advice not to move, other than for essential reasons, will be lifted?
It does seem that restrictions elsewhere are about to be eased, does anyone think that will include boat movements? I'm sure the hire boat industry must be going frantic at the moment, although whether the Government gives two shits about them is altogether an entirely different matter.
What say you?

19th of May.
ETA it's my younger daughter's 8th birthday and she says we can go boating. Bearing in mind she gets everything else right I reckon there is a good chance of it.
I put this to the MI6 admin girls and they said their conservative estimate was the 15th. Of May. 2020.

If we are apparently going to be able to drive out for a picnic (with family), then surely we will be able to go boating. We're going to be with family, but as there will be no pubs or restaurants, we won't have the opportunity to interact with outsiders.
The only problem I can see with social distancing is at locks, but a menacing windlass may deter idiot gongoozlers.

Besides which there have been 10 times as many Covid deaths where my boat is compared to where I live, which slightly dulls the idea of going boating. |

I suspect the priority will be to get the workforce back to work ... within restrictions re distancing etc. Announcement on Sunday and introduction going forward from Monday. I have grown weary of the constant speculation, second guessing, conspiracy theorists and barrack room know-alls, so I'm content to wait for the announcement  The wait to hear will give you Mr Stabby the opportunity for discretely 'applying your hair products' and disposing of body parts. Not to be a pedant here but (unless I missed it) Boris never explicitly said we COULDN'T go boating in the first place - its just CRT's "interpretation" of things ... and even then they were only able to "ADVISE" boaters not to boat...
That said - makes feck all difference to me given the locks are locked between Bingley and Wigan anyway ..... grrrr
YESTERDAY HOWEVER, I did make an essential boat Journey from Skipton to Farnhil (to wind) and stop off outside Aldi to replenish gin stocks... I even tweeted about it. SO few boats have been moving about, I felt very special (a bit like THE queen instead of a queen) with everyone on the towpath really pleased to see a moving boat... twas a lovely chug in the sun - even the turn went well in the wind - I left the bosun to it on the tiller and made a brew.

I much preferred mooring near Aldi than in Skipton. But then I’ve got a bike and it’s only 10mins into Skipton.

C&RT certainly did say 'don't move' in the midlands quaysider ... I thought it was a pretty much national policy. The actual boating wasn't the issue, it was visiting different areas/services/shops etc. They did announce after several weeks, if you're unhappy in town (busy towpaths etc) move to a quiet location and return as and when necessary for services. A few round here are cruising between Coole Pilate and Calverley, stopping off for shopping in Nantwich ... our regular passing boats. Rog |

It's all synaptics - I was pretty sure they have not said boaters are instructed/ ordered not to move or visit - doesn't it all say boaters are being 'asked/advised' not to boat?
more because they've furloughed so many staff anyway there are so few on the ground to deal with problems i suspect rather than a worry about germs on a balance beam

Curiously I received an email from EA to advise me my fishing licence had expired.
Whilst asking me to renew for £30 it also instructed me 'You must not go fishing'.
