As for the boating the problem I could foresee is that of carrying out emergency maintenance. Things like dealing with dry pounds. Is a sole worker allowed to do this sort of job or does it require a gang? If it's more than one worker then can they get there achieving social distancing? Would they have to use two vehicles? The roadwork gangs are working but then roads are every so slightly more important than the canals. I witnessed the CRT supervising grass cutting here last week, it struck me as odd that there were three men , two brand new hired vans and one CRT van, now i think back, I realise it is the only way to keep a gang of workers socially distanced, I am still trying to work out why a local police van had two officers on board, i can only assume they are living as a household, seems unlikely, but what other explanation unless they are both immune. The council are responsible for cutting the path on the top of the river wall here and they did it last week. One man in one van with a very fancy, highly mobile remote control lawnmower that climbed on and off the trailer by itself ....... he just walked behind it with the remote control box ...... very efficient ...... but then not a contractor .... direct council worker.
