I have to admit that the title of the thread is childish, even if the intentions were good. Thunderboat struggles to be a valid boating forum and is often vilified and ridiculed for its content. You have been privileged Rog, Met has a valid point. This is not an attack for your attempts to lighten the mood but I dont think you really thought it through and the Pollyanna naivety is just a little bit grating. ... x too Thunderboat is a forum for people who want to be a member of it. Just saying.

I have seen very few willies, but each has been very different from any vegetable found in Tesco's Perhaps you need to get out more.

back to the op - slightly, I'm currently moored opposite one of those geese that are NOT the Canada types... she's been sitting on her nest since I got here around 3 and I've been lobbing chunks of bread (not just bread - S & M's finest) over to her... turns out puffs CAN throw after all - she's merrily sitting on her eggs, eating what I've sent her way bless. I heard that you have always been able to throw a good hissy fit! 😂

I selected my 'childish' title deliberately to both lure people in, whilst at the same time indicating the frivolous nature of the content. I deliberately placed It in 'The Pit (you can talk about anything here)' to further evidence this was not a serious 'boaty' thread. My second sentence of the o.p. acknowledges that some may be having a bad time at present, and that no disrespect was intended by my attempt to lighten the mood, and give us something positive to discuss, if of a mind to do so. My "Pollyanna naivety" as you describe it, is just me ... after four years here I figured most wouldn't be too shocked by my style of posting but I was wrong. I only have the one personality, so I'm not entirely sure what I can do about 'grating' on you, other than being suitably chastened and circumspect as a consequence of your sharing your view of me so publicly. Very cheery for you - sounds like you've had a great time - but .......... spare a thought for those who can't get to their boats ........ It is entirely possible to see the positive even whilst in a house. We can choose to focus on the 'bad' we're all encountering ... or try to brighten things a bit. I choose the latter Rog As you know, the last few weeks haven’t been kind to me. Today I wake with a fresh outlook. Suns out. I can probably visit our boat, even better I can visit it via a good blast on a motorbike. It feels like the start of something good, I intend to enjoy what I can. Best part of today will be that I can go sit in a quiet spot, and just a few feet away will be my children. I like this thread Roger.

In the spirit of “if life gives you lemons, make lemonade” (or pop it in some gin), I quite understand what the OP is trying to do. Yes, we have all experienced the tragic consequences of this pandemic, be it bereavement, solitude, loneliness, financial issues or not being able to get to one’s boat (that puts it into perspective doesn’t it?) but for me there are upsides too: I am appreciating the time spent with my daughter, now 21, who is spreading her wings and will probably never spend as much time with us again, also I had a new kitchen installed just before Christmas and I have had the time and inclination to use it to its fullest extent. We have worked in our garden more than we have in the last 3 years and it shows. We appreciate how incredibly lucky Mr Dyertribe was to get his long-awaited hip replacement in January, our heartfelt sympathy goes to those still waiting. Whilst our business atm occupies us about 8 hours a week, we are in the fortunate position to not have any employees to worry about and, having structured things so that our overheads are minimal, we will survive this. We are using as many local businesses as physically possible intentionally rather than by necessity and will continue to do so in the future. Yes, things are grim, but without counting our blessings too, that way leads to madness. Just saying.........

Good effort rog, even if you are getting some stick for it! All part of lockdown fever I suspect!
I would love to report some happy things but finished trying to fit a new instrument panel to a glider - several problems which have left me quite grumpy!
On the plus side it was snowing on and off at the gliding club, not really flyable so not immediately resenting being locked down. My latest PCBs have arrived from China which will give me something to do. We have a nice house, reasonably big garden and a good pension. Jeff seems to be quite happy at home. Missing boating but we will be able to, some time in the hopefully fairly near future.

Rog My criticism would be that it isn't inclusive. subsitute "body part" for "willy" and everyone can join in. Melons and freshly cut figs come to mind. Co-op now do bags of ugly veg as standard. (they call it Mis shaped). Got a fine parsnip the other week, two legs and a little willie.

I could dwell on the negative... 1) still no way of putting my glass shower door back on the side of the bath..Aquaflux spare parts that i need remain out of stock..they do not respond to email and don't answer phone and cannot leave message...plastic sheet n gaffer tape 'fix' it remains 2) Also probably 80 or so 3.73 m lengths or so of wood lie across the floor as does all his tools/drills etc etc... 3) The cooker(thats oven plus all the rings) now burning with yellow not blue flame..yep know thats incomplete combustion but cannot work how to adjust.... 4) Failed to source dog/puppy any I have found are stupid money.... 5) Car...yes well say no more 6) Family 'issues' absolutely scary ..not something I can post... 7) Nagging toothache 8) Broken bits in the house that really ought to be sorted..... etc etc... However I refuse to let any of it completely knock me down... I can go out for a wonderful walk every day and I'm helping with sons van conversion... When he goes(think he's got another job in few days) I will no longer need to cook(so thats that issue sorted) and hopefully all his stuff will be back in the store.. I shall then deep clean house.. And carry on.... Oh and I'm quite happy to buy any veg..however I won't until I can get cooker sorted.. The Worms Head waits.......

On the cooker yellow flame may be due to blocked jets. If house works have been making a lot of dust, maybe some has been sucked into the air inlet? We had this problem with the gliding club cooker’s rings and I fixed it thus:
Lift off the top bits (burner spreader etc) to reveal the jet (small brass thing with hex head and tiny hole in the middle). You will need a socket or spanner the right size (smallish) and undo the jet. Peer into the tiny hole and check it isn’t blocked. Blow through it or poke it with something very soft (poking it with wire can enlarge the hole). With the jet still out, turn on the gas for a second (no ignition!) which will blow out any debris lurking below the jet. Now replace the jet, tighten but not too much as it’s brass. Put everything back, light up and enjoy nice blue flame!

They are very nice, and one Finnish way to eat them is to put some egg-butter (boiled eggs mashed with butter) on top. They can contain rice, mashed potato, or mashed carrot, and there are different sizes / regional varieties to them. How many before you're finnished?
