So one person has coronavirus. That is of no consequence, the question is whether they transmitted it to others, or whether measure in place in the school meant that didn’t happen. There is no point in having social distancing, extra hygiene measures etc if they don’t work!

Or we could just keep everyone 'locked down' indefinitely, just in case some school kids pass it amongst themselves eventually leading to it being passed to some old/ fat person who might die. We need to do this for ever, because the virus isn't going to go away. Eventually, when the credit runs out and printing money leads to a bagful of banknotes being needed to buy a cheap load of Aldi bread people will have to retreat to caves and live off the land, just like in the good old days, safe in the knowledge that they won't catch the virus.
I'm starting to tire of hearing people who are risk averse in the extreme thinking they can preach their values onto others, when the majority, if given a clear head not muddied by constant scare tactic propaganda from the government and others would realise that the status quo is not sustainable for much longer.

I think quaysider paraphrased the last PM's speech quite accurately ... 'We stayed home enough to stop the NHS crashing and burning ... we have better systems in place now than earlier ... we're starting to feel a little more in control ... so now it's time for some of you to get out there and catch it for the good of us all. The youngsters are less at risk so we'll start with the work force and school kids ... we'll see how we go'. To be honest I don't want to hide for the rest of my days, perhaps it's time for the healthy to start to emerge. Rog

I'm personally content to see how things progress, continually reassess and act accordingly. What else can you do? Someone I chat with elsewhere who is "essential" and has used the tube continuously throughout tells me that despite what Foxy and his ilk would like to believe, up until Wednesday, certainly on his route the tube has been all but deserted and he's sometimes been the only passenger in a carriage. On Wednesday it was rammed and he's stopped using it. So...if we get away with that kind of sudden step change things are looking good. If not we'll know something else. It is what it is.

I reckon some would very much like the "R" to go back up.
Whether they are influential enough to help form government policy who knows.
Bit conspiratorial but a second wave is categorically not a negative outcome for everyone.

Best get on with that herd immunity thing if that's all there is. Women tax payers and children first...

Due to my SIS work I was given Nerd immunity early in this crisis which is why I take it so lightly.
That and having no relatives whatsoever (apart from mad sister) means I can comfortably and happily not give a remote toss.

I was informed that they are some sort of bizarre illusion.
Very realistic indeed but apparently not actually verifiable as extant units in this space time continuum.

you lot are SO unfair.
there's the poor exiled troll giving us fair warning about a possible danger to our health and all you can do is put him down.
........................... err ... is it legal to put a fox down? are foxes still classified as vermin?

Foxes are certainly considered vermin on this forum... What's the Covid-19 deal in Brazil, Charles? I thought Brazil got AIDS pretty badly. We don't seem to hear much news from Brazil apart from the rainforest being cut down to make way for palm oil plantations. According to worldometers aka the MSS the Brazil numbers look quite rude actually. www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/brazil/Obviously there will be geopolitical tampering but assuming it's vaguely accurate it looks to be on a bit of a naughty curve there.

It's badgers that they're culling - spreaders of tuberculosis. I am not familiar with badgers - wot's your point?
comparing me to a badger might be like comparing a fox to a fax machine.
are you dyslexic by any chance?
