I haven't forgotten about this thread - will revisit the outboard some time over the next week or two @magnetman and @nemesis thanks for the kind offer of a prop, will look into the options, have a feeling the seagull prop will be a bit taxing on the poor thing though!

I am now running the big boat at 72 volts, I have a new controller as well, from my point of view its better to let a motor spin freely than over prop it creating huge amounts of heat. My problem is I went for a direct drive system on reflection it might have been better to use a belt drive? However now I have the prop and power optimised it does seem to be running well, 1.5 hours the other day used 3.9KWH so economical it is, I have 36 KWH of batteries on board and have no intention of long cruises in the rain, sunny days work better for me
