I sold two items on Fleabay. One was a heavy t&g door. The buyer was local and arranged to collect it. I said I would leave it outside on the grass verge.(for those who don't remember,or care, we live way up in the Welsh hills miles from anyone. Anyway the buyer was stopped by the police on a deserted stretch of country road and told to turn back. He did but came around another way. We were never closer than 6 mtrs. The other item was a rug which the buyer has arranged for collection by courier today. I have to leave it on the property outside the front door. I obviously won't meet and greet the guy but he will go on to interact with other people. Ok so I have admitted on here several times that I am not the sharpest knife in the box. But what is the difference?
Ps. My closest neighbour fosters children. He pays a "handyman" who usually works on a Friday but has been here several times a week since the lockdown. He parks his car on the village lane, even though they have ample parking, and then has to walk past my property to get to theirs. It is absolutely not essential work but my neighbour is a complete knobhead.

Look to go back to work if you can't work from home ... no mention of essential as far as I'm aware.
Contact is generally how it's passed, so safe distancing should be fine.
Some people are becoming paranoid now though ... heard a person ranting about passing an angler and could only get about four feet away as the towpath was limited ... seemed to ignore the angler was sat on the floor and with his back to people.

It is crazy..that couriers can pick up and deliver and ordinary folk cannot collect items..if social distancing is adhered to can see no problem We r not encouraged or allowed to use common sense.... Son and I went and collected his wood from a local distribution depot as there were problems getting it delivered..they would have to have brought it, sat in their lorry whilst we unpacked kerbside and walked all down the back of the lane carrying the wood...there was in excess 100 lengths x3.73meters(he over ordered in error)....we unpacked it off the pallet and man/woman handled it into van..all the depot workers stayed well clear...fortunately although at one stage we followed a man in blue in his company car we were not stopped... We've also had to go to his store couple times..

He is in Wales... Essential travel only except for exercise.
One rule is to stop people taking the pee. The other rule is to allow essential business continue.
They overlap at times so can seem absurd so need treating with a 'shrug of the shoulders' occasionally.

And I'm driving around 100 schoolkids on this bus, none of them have masks. The whole situation is absurd.

Just back from boat, taken batteries off, cleaned up the area and going to repaint there later this week. Then new batteries will be fitted. Was good to be on the boat. Marina still quiet but people seem a little more chilled out. Roads are busier, a couple of neighbours back to work today. Seeing countries like Italy reopening bars and hairdressers is good. I am rather surprised at how quickly things are happening. Infection rates are dropping rapidly around Europe, as well as in England. Most people I speak with of late are keen to get on with life. Nurse next door says her wards are very quiet now, lazy Madame π. Iβm almost starting to wonder if this virus might sort of just die out, or I suppose drop to a level that we can live with.

It's funny how places react differently to the same situation.... shops and the like... Take Poundland which has remained open throughout (although at reduced hours ) - day 1 they applied tape to the floor and noted people coming in and out on a pad. No hysteria like Tescos - no long queues ... just folk applying common sense (here in Skipton there IS for the most part, plenty of that around) and behaving well ... Same goes for Marks and Sparks... lovely people passing you a sanitized trolley on the way in and "normal" chatting over the checkouts.
Yesterday, 'Boyes' opened up (might have been Friday come to think of it) but THEY are "new" to this social distancing thing... being a bit gestapo in their approach, asking people to sanitize their hands on entry to the store - through a thick mask but like I heard a bloke grumbling, "if a fart can get through my undies and denim jeans and STILL smell 10 feet away, WHAT chance do folk think their little face masks stand?" - it made me smirk. d An ice-cream shop even re-opened too (1 person allowed in at a time) . Folk are still zig-zagging around the streets to avoid each other but I've noticed when it IS unavoidable to get closer, most appear to hold their breaths and make a dash for it now rather than waiting.
Tomorrow , I'm going to have a run to Bingley for a change of scenery - STILL no sign of when CRT will reopen the canal ... I've been emailing the business bloke quite a bit asking if they would allow me to "pre-book" the locked, locks to get off - citing a crane hire being the only other option... hes just stalling and giving politician answers... it might be time to start a twitter campaign as when things are done "publicly" you often get a better response due to the "shame factor".

Twitter can be useful in applying pressure.... An ice cream shop is opening down here..take away ice creams and drinks only on Thurs but as its Verdis I can see there will be queues so won't bother

I have come to the conclusion that there is quite a large pool of brainless, selfish, idiots in this country.
Most but by a long shot not all, teenagers. The Cafe has re-opened doing takeaways and sitting on the sea wall outside it was a group of about 8 or 9 wrinkleys all sitting right next to one another.
Sometimes I despair for the human race

The longer the lockdown continues, the more I have been questioning its validity. If we stay in lockdown, the economy will go into meltdown, and suicide and depression will skyrocket. Those wrinklies probably figure the end is nigh anyway so WTF. You may as well enjoy life while you have it. Anyway those unused Nightingale hospitals are still there.
