Some of you are so bitter and twisted, I wonder how you survive the world you see. Many work in nursing, teaching, social care etc. out of genuine desire to make a contribution ... a vocation if you wish ... certainly not as being the 'cushiest' or 'best paid' job they could pursue. The 'clap for carers' routine was started by the public on social media, and rather like Sir Tom, has been 'used' by many vested interests for their own purposes. Don't damn the individuals involved because of that. Rog Well to be fair Rog, I have had clap from appreciative audience. Surely it's all about sharing joy...probably explains it...

Don't start making out keyworkers as saints !!! Clap for the Key Workers! I am one of them now I get up at 0520 to cart kiddies to school as education is important and Society would collapse without it. Funny how it's only the school buses on the move now, although I do see one normal route bus is making a run from Oulu to Kokkola and back to Oulu on Mon-Fri. Message for all employees from the company I work for today - would people be happy to defer their Summer holidays to after August... hardly likely to be able to have a summer holiday when you are temporarily laid off anyway! Impossible to forecast anything now: normal route traffic may be 50-80% in August, and looking unlikely that there will be any foreign tourists this year. That's got to be a big hit all round, tourism - no customers for B&Bs or hotels, bus companies which do charters just having their vehicles (and staff) mothballed. How about all the people from abroad (like us!) bringing money to the canals - canalside pubs, canalside towns and villages, chandleries, coal, logs, diesel, rental cars, train tickets - all that not coming (as of present). Not sure of my future either - one week to go and no info as to whether I am a) still working for this company b) not working for this company by 31st May - this is mainly to do with local public transport 'competition' (Kokkola city still hasn't had a meeting about which companies will get the contracts, and that area being a neighbour affects the area I work in), and now partly to do with the coronavirus situation with 200-odd drivers twiddling their thumbs and now the government thinking of having different groups of kids run every two weeks (alternating weeks) to keep the numbers down in schools and introducing more 'study at home' with instructions sent by computer. So I may as well bathe in the glory of being a 'Key Worker' next week, as it may be my last

Give it a bit of time, groups currently held to be mere mortals will be making furious claims that they should be 'promoted'; to seen as 'key'. Weโve already seen it numerous times on here by our very own โneed to be importantโ immigrant bus driver!๐ 'Mr Key Worker' to you.

Don't start making out keyworkers as saints !!! The population has responded, generally, in a very fine way in response to this crisis but don't lets get carried away. Key workers are a group of ordinary people, not special, just the ordinary "man(or woman) on the Clapham omnibus" neither saints or sinners just a cross section of ordinary people There is a tendency to put health workers on a pedestal at the moment but to balance that it is worth remembering that theft (often involving staff) costs the NHS 1.3 billion a year and the total loss by fraud is some 3 billion a year What I can't stand is these posts on facebook that start as "I am a key worker" ffs half of them do 2 hours down the corner shop. They are already demanding extra rights and privileges. They do think they are special. I'll never use that term to describe myself. It's so cringeworthy

Should there be a General Booing for the NHS workers who steal from their employer on Thursdays, say around 9pm?

Should there be a General Booing for the NHS workers who steal from their employer on Thursdays, say around 9pm? Definitely not, you have to make allowances for key workers. In any case, their wages are so low that a nurse ended up down the food bank, it was all over the papers. What an outrage.

My neighbour comes out clapping on Thursdays. It is a case of 'I'm here-look at me-hello here I am '. Then at weekends up pops 4 generations of the family all from different households with one working in a care home. You give up sometimes.

Source of your claim please. "Beverley Penman from Wiltshire, revealed her distressing story on social media by posting a picture of her dinning table filled with everyday items from a food bank. The single-mother-of-two shared an image of the items she received from donations which included breakfast cereal, tinned food and toilet roll. The NHS worker said she felt โdemoralisedโ by resorting to food banks and thought as a nurse she would never be in this position and hit out at Government austerity." www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1209634/NHS-nurse-food-bank-austerity-money-child-care-wiltshire Fuck me, looks like she's raided the entire food bank! And a pumpkin?

Dated Nov 2019 so little relevance to Ricco's claim of another divide and conquer tactic on behalf of socialists...
I do wonder why the Express hasn't mentioned the robber barons of private landlords though........ They seem content to mention the robber barons of childcare (a lowly paid job when most expenses are accounted for and wages are paid). Hmnn.....

Seek and ye shall find. here's one: "Perhaps you shouldn't have extended the furlough payouts then?! Way too many people out there enjoying a nice long holiday and not paying mortgages, credit cards etc-which I believe is also to be extended. If they can all visit a beach and laze around all day with masses of strangers everywhere-and they seem to be disregarding the distancing rules-then they should be told to go back to work. I'm fed up doing my bit, working everyday as a keyworker and seeing these idiots on the news about to put us all back to square one!' Boris please rethink your "travel where you like" policy."
