Sure, without some sort of testing kit who's to know? The stuff Tesco sell in 5 litre bottles does nicely for a better cup of tea.

I found it amusing when Tesco started selling "table water" that was a real Trotters Independent Trading moment.
I think they have gone back to cheap spring water now.
Although I have been guilty of buying bottled water when on small boats without tanks I do think that wrapping water up in small plastic bottles and driving it around the place is a perfect indicator of basic human idiocy.

Yes, and funnily enough for the first 30 or so years of my life bottled water didn’t exist, and yet I’m alive. Not to mention for the hundreds of thousands of years of humanity before that. It is quite sinful.

'Dasani' is a brand still marketed that is openly bottled tap water and yet manages top be one of the biggest selling brands globally. But its banned in the UK... A lot of it is just convenience - I've bought bottled water when I go out on my boat, or for a long drive.

So have I but it always really pisses me off when I realise I have forgotten to take something to drink, have to stop in a service station and end up spending more on 500ml of (probably tap) water than it cost for 500ml of petrol!

Personally it doesn't happen every day so it doesn't much matter.

I've read that tap water is has been inspected more by 'the proper authorities (council/government)' and bottled water (such as that made by CocaCola) has not been inspected/tested so thoroughly. Well, why would they? Their job is to make $$$ and inspectors cost money. Chlorinated or not, we like to empty our water tank and re-fill it on returning to our boat after, say, 2 months away. The acid test would be to scoop some water from the surface, put it on a slide and have a look for wriggly-things under an ordinary microscope.

Call yourself a scientist. Rog

I saw a sign on a tap once, which said “water from this tap has been passed by the inspector” which I thought was a bit naughty, he should find somewhere else to pee.

Always remember a cottage we hired that had it's own water supply from the mountain.
Funny brown colour from the peat, but it tasted amazing.
