Sudden change of plans for us - on arrival home The Witch informs her sister called and has offered us their holiday apartment in Kuusamo (NE Finland) for a week, as they are not going. Pure co-incidence, they didn't know we were even making a trip next week. As it happens, we would have driven through Kuusamo anyway (probably without stopping) but we can always save the across-Lapland idea for later (in June still?) and instead concentrate on the Kuusamo area which is a part of Finland we don't know. It's famous for its 'Bear Circuit' of 80km / 50 miles but that's a camping trek of 4 days; there is, however, a 'Little Bear Circuit' of 12km / 8 miles and we could do that one day (it follows the Oulanka river). There are loads of lakes in that area, but the Sun does go below the horizon as Kuusamo is about 120km / 75 miles south of the Arctic Circle... although of course we could always sprint up North for a night to see the Sun not go down. I used to have map of these circuits, but I think I gave it to Pirkko's son, but digging through my maps I came across these and thought if dogless wants me to post the two items on the right I can do that, and if Stabbers is thinking of doing the Soar I can post the two items on the left. Addresses could be anything - any house, shop, marina, etc.

Glad you've got a holiday sorted, and hope we see the photos in due course.
A very kind offer thank you, but we have all the Pearson's guides, and Jane collects O.S. maps anyway.
Perhaps someone else may be interested ... the Pearson's guides are excellent for reading, although the maps in the Nicholson's are better.
Thank you for the kind thought.

Ooh yes, wouldn't mind the two on the left, don't mind waiting until you are in the area again, otherwise I can PM you my address in Ramsgate- it's a bit of a no-no to get mail sent to the mooring. Thanks.

Rog We've had engine oil (packs of 3 4-litre bottles) sent to The Navigation pub, Sowerby Bridge, and to the Brasenose in Cropredy.

He gets regular supplies of a certain gentlemen's hair product discreetly delivered, so they know him well in Brinklow ... but keep it quiet ... he's quite sensitive about it Rog
