Stents are wonderful !!! ( I've had one for over twenty years ...... the only thing that has started to concern me is that after it was put in I asked how long they last and was told "Oh, at least ten years" )

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to quaysider and thebfg for the kind words in their two posts on page 3 of this thread, . . . they are much appreciated.
To the perpetrators of the occasional sideways remarks directed at me, however, I would add that although I'm not averse to a bit of good natured ribbing and I've never been overly concerned about anyone's personal opinion of me, but I do take exception to the repetitive posting of ill-intentioned and factually flawed remarks based on nothing more than false and misleading impressions gained from a tuppenny-ha'penny sponger looking for an FoC diagnosis of his engine problems at the cost of someone else's considerable time and travelling expenses.
The three 'gentlemen' concerned will know who I'm speaking of, and I can assure them that for the good of my professional reputation, the last thing I would ever want would be to have a notable lame-brain, a world-class bullshitting bodger, and a whingeing sponger posting anything complimentary, or recommending my services to others !

Hi Tony, Mrs G is continuing to improve but sadly the JP3 is not playing still. I tried fresh fuel but that made no difference. I took the Starter Motor to the specialist (I was passing anyway) who pronounced that it was in perfect working order. In fact he said he couldn't stall it. I have put it back together after cleaning the armature and switch inside. I have cleaned all the connections between the engine and Battery. Did't get time to turn it over today. Tomorrow I am going to start from scratch and go through everything again one last time I will need to bleed it again when I reconnect the main line from the day tank. Re check the spill etc. If still no joy I'll ask you to come over have a go. There is no rush need to give Mrs G a bit longer to recover. Keep you posted Thanks Ian

There was a JP3 local to me that would not start despite it turning over. When the owner added a jump lead between battery banks it started. All connections were good its just that the starter battery was "tired" it would turn it over but not fast enough to start.

Keep you posted Thanks Ian Did you drain the filter(s) and the piping all the way to the injector pump before connecting up and bleeding the temporary supply of fresh fuel, and did you spin the engine up with all three decompressors lifted when attempting to start ? If not, it would be well worthwhile doing both things and giving it another go before working your way through all the timing checks again.

Hi Tony, SHE STARTED! It was the Starter motor (duff conections/ dirty armature) and perhaps aided by some decent liquor ( yes I had bled the system until white diesel ejected at the injector unions) slowly at first under the Starter she got faster and faster finally picked up and ran sweet at steady. A bit lumpy at first but settled down to a steady tick over. After initially filling the sky with smoke she ran clear even under power in gear.Thank you everyone for your advice. So pleased she,s a going especially as CRT are going to take £850 out of my account in the next few days. I will run her up every day for a bit then treat her to some a new Brunswick Green coat and some brasso! Cheers Ian.

What are the thoughts on glow plugs for a JP engine. The plugs go in where the Hi/Lo compression valves go giving a compression midway between the two settings. Also red fly wheel or green. Cheers Ian
