Over 15 years for a car battery is definitely the longest I've ever known. My Mazda 626 battery did 12 years before snuffing it, also Pirkko's old Toyota Corolla's battery did 12 years before we changed it for our Auris - the battery of which died instantly and without warning at Christmas - not even 8 years old.

Just as an aside really, when we got back to the mooring after our cruise, Sam's car wouldn't start. Flat battery. I connected it up to my super-duper Numax battery charger and within 30 minutes it was showing as fully charged. So I said to him "It's fucked". So we went and got a new one from Halfords. When we took the old one off, I was surprised that it had no manufacturer's sticker on it. We looked underneath it for the date stamp. October 2004. Obviously the original factory fitted battery (it's a 55 reg car). Over 15 years for a car battery is definitely the longest I've ever known. But what about calculating the amp-hour capacity to three decimal places?
