If they open Wigan to let you down on the following morning ... if you can bully them into it .
We were looking too and thought it would be almost impossible ... stuck at Blackburn.
Give your business man hell.

Maybe Telemachus could have a word with his mates in the Wigan Flight Crew and get special dispensation for quaysider.

Dear Mark
Thank you for your email. I am sorry for the inconvenience that the stoppages on the Leeds & Liverpool are causing you on top of Covid-19.
I appreciate that the 3-day mid-June passage window, unfortunately, doesn’t give you the ability to travel all the way from Skipton to beyond Wigan. However, I hope it helps you to an extent.
Your requests for assistance have been included along with other customers’ requests, which have all informed the Trust’s plan for the navigation window in mid-June. However, it has not been possible to provide bespoke assistance to each and every boater in these circumstances, both in terms of resourcing the operation and in the interests of water conservation to enable both private boaters and businesses to operate in what will remain of the season.
The current plan is to open the canal to navigation in early July when the Covid-19 restrictions are further relaxed, which will enable our commercial boaters to operate and will also provide a further opportunity for boaters to move to where they wish to reach.
I’m sorry that this doesn’t suit your specific needs at this time but I trust that you understand the reasons for our actions.
Whilst I’m not in a position to provide you with the assisted passage you have requested, I have forwarded your request to the regional director to make him further aware of your circumstances. If there is any opportunity to assist you in the way you have suggested, I will let you know. But, please understand that the current plan is as detailed in the notification.
Best regards
Richard
WHICH basically means, they don't give a toss -... I have got to stop reacting though, as my reply to this was asking WHO I can throw the keys of my house to so THEY can try paying the mortgage on universal credit!
I'm not asking for a kidney, just a bit of flexibility ...

There's no reason CRT can't plonk your metal box on a truck and say "Place of your choice, expense on us". The solution is simple. And it might be fun to be inside your boat going down the M1.

You are not allowed to travel in a boat on road haulage. I don't believe you are allowed to travel in a towed caravan either. I was fortunate enough to get a ride in a really cool Scania low loader from Wigan to Henley on Thames in 2009 when one of my boats was transported. It was a really good trip (for me) I think the driver had got a bit tired of the ear bending I gave him but these things happen

You are not allowed to travel in a boat on road haulage. Pöh! Where's your sense of adventure? It's not my sense of adventure I just don't think the driver would agree. Mr Stabby would probably know more about this but I'm pretty sure unless you are a dodgy pikey your insurance is invalid if there arrr living humans in the trailer of your vehicle or any item placed onto said trailer.

Is it from Richard delves the business manager? yeah - to be fair, he phoned me this afternoon (after my reply to that) and tried to justify their position but DID give a little leeway in that they will try and work around earlier and later times for access to gargrave and more importantly, barrowford (later)... it might be dooable if we don't spend too long down the weed hatch and zoom past moored boats....otherwise, it's gonna be 2 weeks stuck at the top of wigan. My gut feeling having spoken with him in the flesh so to speak is that they'll try to help me if they can... it's still crappy but when asked if they will pay for a crane out the answer was a flat no.

"but when asked if they will pay for a crane out the answer was a flat no."
Demand your licence fees back. What are CRT actually planning to do anyway, just get rid of the boats and fill the whole of the L&L in? They cannot dodge their responsibility as the navigation authority, and a crane out and lift to somewhere else, and an apology and financial compensation, should be the least they could offer. Why have boaters not got together and stormed CRT's offices? Oh yeah, forgot - the Police will fine you if you travel without a reason acceptable to them.
Anyway, why is it you can't leave via Leeds? Someone will accompany you from Goole to the navigable bit of the Trent - and there you go, tours up and down the Soar!

there is enough unrest in the uk right now without boaters getting all militant too. We (as in the new bosun and I) still need to get to Manchester for 30th June for hospital stuff so a side from not wanting to go to trent falls, it's just not practical - let alone fuel friendly given the zero income. It'll be hard enough to do it by train from Wigan as it is.

Slight alteration if I may: The police would indeed fine boaters if they stormed CRT's offices in their quest to have a tangible injustice reversed. However: if the boaters were black, or whites who feel guilty about the colour of their skins, fighting a vague perceived injustice arising from criminality several hundred years ago, and the headquarters were stormed, the police would ignore transgressions of Covid 19 laws, and join in with the protestors.
