Recently had new batteries installed (after theft) but not had a chance to go anywhere in the boat since and unlikely to for a while so not able to charge them up. I have a Honda gas generator but again not able to go to the boat even for a day (8 hour round trip) Should I be worried about the batteries not being charged/losing their charge or just accept that once I can go to the boat they will get charged with then? Thanks

Thanks Itβs not ideal but a few months of non-use shouldn't be a huge problem if the batteries were fully charged when fitted - provided everything is switched off on the boat, of course. Battery University says to recharge after maximum of 6 months. batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_the_lead_acid_batteryYou could of course visit you boat and charge the batteries for 8 hours (16 hours total, out of 24 and thus in compliance with the rules) if you really wanted to, but not necessary. 8 hrs travelling, 1 hr setting up and packing away, 7 hrs daytime nap on the boat to avoid fatigue on the way home. And still get home for 8 hours overnight sleep!

Sounds like a boat that could do with a solar panel and regulator. Nothing flash maybe just an 80w panel and a pwm regulator.
I know they don't do much in winter but this time of year they would keep the batteries very happy.
Of course this year is probably different to all others in the last 50.

I have a 135w stick down panel with mppt controller from photovoltaic universe, keeping my batteries on float easily. even over winter.
