Spotted this on a local auctioneers site (Harrogate, North Yorkshire). Don't know if it is of interest to anyone. I guess the problem would be getting hold of it.

Quite an unusual one that one.
I paid £35 for a similar motorguide 36lb thrust model a few years ago. Not such an elaborate top on it but the same lower unit also 12v. It is still working.
Their guide price seems a bit high to me.

What sort of size dinghy would it push along?

It would be reasonable on a 8ft dinghy but as with most small trolling motors it would be slow. It will push a larger boat for example my 36lb Motor guide will push along a heavy 14ft GRP boat. Very slowly .
I use a 36v 101lb thrust trolling motor on my 8ft dinghy which is much more lively and gets it to behave more like there is a 2hp petrol outboard on the back.

my 20ft slim cruiser weighing 700kg does 3.5mph with a 12v 32lb Minn Kota that I bought 2nd hand for £40 six years ago. That is an average walking pace - ideal for the Thames which is my main stomping ground.
The secret is mainly in the hull design - mine is almost canoe-shaped but with a transom that is only immersed by about 10cm. It makes virtually no waves and therefore only has to cope with skin friction. The waterline beam is less than 3ft.
Most trolling motors are propped to do a max of about 4mph, so do not expect a spectacular performance.
An 8ft dinghy or an inflatable has more resistance and will perform no better than a longer well-designed hull.
Personally I would never buy an imitation - in the trolling motor world MK is considered by far the most reliable.
