One of the many things I'll have to think about when I move is how to transport my surfboard. Not long distances, couple of miles or so but walking is out, I'll be wearing neoprene boots. The obvious solution is to make up a rack for the motor bike, Bali style. Unfortunately the Grom doesn't lend itself to this, it's impossible without making modifications which would effectively wreck the bike. I could trade the Grom for something more suitable but I like the little Grom, don't really want to do that.
So, I've decided that buying a push bike and making a suitable rack is the solution. One end fixed to the front of the frame, where the vertical and horizontal members meet, the other end fixed to the seat post. It's not a difficult job but I'm struggling a bit over materials. Plastic waste pipe is the obvious solution, the type that you stick together. Tee fittings and 90 degree angles are widely available, it's lightweight, and it's cheap. However, my surfboard is 7 1/2 feet long and weighs around 6 kilos so I'm not sure it's 'man' enough for the job. I found some 25mm o/d aluminium tube with 5mm walls, that would be perfect for the job, light and strong, but I can't find the fittings I'd need.
Any ideas, what would you use?

Like inflatable kayaks, they are close to useless.

I did post earlier suggesting the roof rack option but deleted it assuming there was an obvious flaw or everyone would be doing it.
Maybe it's illegal.
Regarding inflatables you see a lot of inflatable SUP boards which are pretty hard.
Another option I wonder if someone has made a two or three-piece bolt-together surfboard.

A rack on a pushbike is definitely the way forward the problem is what materials to use. Needs to be light, strong, 90 degree and tee fittings available.

If you used 28mm aluminium tube you could use something like the "Osmagold" push-fit plumbing fittings to get your tees and angles. Or 22mm of the same thing if it was strong enough.

Like inflatable kayaks, they are close to useless. I'm sure a man of your experience and imagination will be able to stiffen it up a bit.

The longer rowing shells are made in more than one part for transport. Like this example I guess a surfboard takes different loads to a rowing boat so perhaps it's not appropriate. Speaking of surfing what I really want is a sit-down electric hydrofoil surfboard. That would be nice.
