Gazza you did the best for your mate, all pet owners if they are good and responsible do the same. Another will be along shortly as they are for me what makes life living, Taff is sat in the shade whilst I type this, just waiting for the next person to pooch and get stroked by, I am sorry for your loss as it really is like losing a child sometimes Thanks Peter. This is the third one we have had to say goodbye to in 18 years - time for a longer rest than the couple of months I lasted before Bonehead!

I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear your sad news, Gazza, . . . and I think I know just how you'll all be feeling right now. Take heart, though, . . pals like that never really leave you, . . they're too much a part of you, and you of them, for that ever to happen. Thanks Tony, comforting words indeed!

SO very sorry for what you're all going through right now, Gazza x Thanks Met, The one we lost before Bonehead was a little easier to get ready for - he had been diagnosed with liver cancer; we were well ready for the fateful day to come. - poor old Keif left us just as he came into our world - suddenly and without any prior notification!

Condolences (which never sounds like the right word!) from me too. We have had pets that have gone to Pet Heaven so have some idea what it's like. Thanks Ross - the hardest thing about pets is knowing they shouldn't outlast you!

Very sorry to hear your news Gazza, very sorry indeed. As Roger has said, hope the dwarf is ok, he's been her companion the whole of her life. Thanks John, She is bearing up well, kids being fairly resilient and all that - hardest time for her at the moment is him not being there at bed time. For me its getting up at 05:30 and not being able to go through my normal morning routine :- Morning mate, Here is you breakfast, Pat on the head when he finished, Open the back door to let him out, Wait while he faffs about before he comes back in for another fuss. Sling a cup of coffee down me throat, Another pat on the head and wish him a good day as i go out the door. When he was younger I'd have to walk him for half hour before leaving as well - that tailed off with age though! Now its just coffee and out the door

Remember the good times. Dogs are special friends. Thanks Andrew! This time as well of head full of memories we have a huge amount of digital photos to remember him by, the previous two dogs hardly any, such is the march of technology!

Cracking old dog, he even told me when he was going to bite me, he did, and was then mortified that he had! Lucy was the making of him, he calmed down and used to come and sit between my knees to have his ears tickled! Almost Lucy's Old Shep. We were mortified a child could listen better than you too... Sad you didnt get to see him these past few months thanks to the shielding you have had to undertake - oh well, we will have a beer or two for him when we reunite.

Gazza, I read this thread through a teary haze as it brought back memories of those dear friends that I loved and lost, each one different but each one a fountain of love and happiness. Gazza it doesn't help but I'm with you Phil
