I would only have allowed pubs to open with outside areas beer and common sense rarely appear at the same place! Beyond that we needed the lockdown at the beginning but now is the time to get the economy working again

Beyond that we needed the lockdown at the beginning but now is the time to get the economy working again I think now they will lockdown individual areas that see a spike.. hopefully they can then manage to keep the economy going whilst controlling virus spread...

We had a couple of miles walk ... hot and sunny ... and arrived at Venetian Marina. I jokingly said I could murder an ice cold Guiness ... and the lovely lady said they sold cans, straight out of the fridge £1.50. Sat on the grass in the shade and it was utter bliss ... normal life in a can After a very convivial evening with quaysider and crew, this is turning into a very jolly week. Rog

Dont forget to wear your mask and sanitise your hands often if you are only 1m from others. The relaxation is complete bollocks, we will still have Covid19 in the community this time next year. We should never have had lockdown in the first place. The virus will run its course come what may and the only thing intervention can do is to prolong the issue and cause further, collateral damage. This is Mother Nature weeding her garden and we are foolish if we think we can defeat her. well, it could go one of 2 ways. Either you are right, and the virus will linger on until all the folk who might die will die - alternatively a vaccine will be found, the virus will be beaten and lockdown will have limited the death toll.
however, please feel free to take my place in the queue for the morgue any time you like.

All hail the Great Leader! rather him than you. any PM in the current predicament would be derided by the likes of you.
I'm glad to see that Kier Starmer is above the level of foxxy's popular tabloid press and does not feel the need to take pot shots at Boris.

I can't think of anything Boris has done at all since he became PM - just acting out Cummings' orders. I saw he made a Telly-Vision speech... and, er, when he was Mayor of London he got some very ugly buses on the scene. I, on the other hand, Get Things Done - trailer washed, firewood chainsawed and neatly stacked, curry pizza in the oven (not bought in the shop but made by me).

We're not opening our place on the 4th. I think the government has handed licensees a crock of shit having caved in to lobbying from the breweries and going for the popular decision. We cannot see how we can operate at around 15 to 20% capacity with three times the staff i.e. one to manage entry and seat allocation, one to serve and one to pour when we usually run with one bar staff from 1200 to around 1800. On top of that we are supposed to ensure only two households meet up inside or up to 6 from mixed households outside whilst maintaning 1 metre 'plus' separation. We've already had one of our locals attempt to book a single picnic table for 6 people all from different addressses when they won't legitimately support more than two same-household couples sitting at opposite ends. Aside from the economics I'm just not prepared to expose my staff to the amount of bellyaching and conflict that that sort of willingness to ignore the rules is going to cause - people can do what they want in public places but not on my premises where we are accountable. Some may say these are guidelines, not law, which is true, but the H&S legislation requirement to create a safe environment for staff and customers still applies and that is enforceable. Furthermore, any breach of any legislation or good practice could be construed as not supporting the objectives of the licensing act, which can lead to loss or suspension of the liquor license. It took 10 years to build the business up: it will survive with staff on furlough for another month or two, I'm not prepared to risk having it dragged down by fuckwits until we have no other choice.
A lot of pubs will open: in some rural settings I suspect none of my issues will arise and I wish them luck, but we'll give it a few weeks, see how it goes. By then we'll either see the beginning of the second wave and another lock-down or a further easing of the restrictions.

(The World Health Organisation warned Coronavirus was a "Global Emergency' in January Bozo was holidaying at Chevening, a state funded grand manor house into March.)
Eating it now - not bad! Crisp bottom (durum flour 1dl, graham flour 1dl, semi-rough wheat flour 3dl). Mozzarella cheese on top (not in photo). The Witch says it is good, so that's good enough for me.

The government has also published 43 pages of guidance on operating pubs and restaurants safely. I'm not posting a link, because I'm not capable of supplying the required summary of the content. It includes installing extra bike racks, so that drinkers aren't tempted to use trains …
Drink cycling puts the individual on the bike at risk. This is, if true, completely negligent and quite dangerous.

This is, if true, completely negligent and quite dangerous. Nonsense! It's a well known fact that riding something with two wheels (particularly with an engine attached) when loaded up with beer makes you an absolute God who can ride the wheels of anyone or anything. Your two wheel stead handles better, stops quicker, it seems to have gained the roadholding abilities of a limpet, you're a better rider than Valentino Rossi and Chris Frome combined. Sadly Your talent and skill becomes inversely proportional to the amount consumed. The only trouble is your brain doesn't realise this. Motorcycling pissed is a very hazardous pastime, cycling pissed has the advantage that speeds are lower. Still a fairly hazardous pastime though. That said, didn't mouse fancy being done for being drunk in charge of a bicycle? Legend has it His old village GP had the dubious honour of being done for drunk in charge of a horse!
