Interesting to read quaysider ... but this could exclude us from pub visits. Jane's phone is jiggered and needs replacing (probably would have already been done but for the lock-down restrictions) so she's no down load space for any apps ... my phone's just a phone of course. For us it'll have to be payment by contactless or cash or we don't go, which is a shame. If we can get the boat into one of the marinas up there, we may train home from Northwich .., think it's permissable now ... need to check all's ok at home, check the car out, get Jane's hair sorted, and see family at last. May also get Jane's phone upgraded ... long overdue. Rog Both bars I have visited since reopening accepted cash. I think most places will. I always try and use cash, I’d not like it to be eradicated. Lovely weather again today, typical British holiday stuff. Have felt very sorry for the hire boats chugging past. No wonder so many want to go abroad. I’ve noted quite a few jet planes overhead the last couple of days, quite near East Midlands airport.

The staff were trying to work around keeping SD whilst serving food - ie, they put it on the end of a table I would have said "Who wants scampi?" and then said open your mouths and thrown it in piece by piece from the safety of the bar. 'Big tip' indeed.

Surely more straightforward to fit overhead gantries with trolleys and winches to deliver products to tables.
Or even simpler just have rising tables and an underground area full of slaves running around putting things on the tables for delivery up to the customers.

That sounds like Catherine the Great's dining system
