My mate's granny just died at 106 years old. Got me wondering if anyone has or had any really old blood relatives?
I mean they might be dead now but people who were alive during your lifetime.
The oldest one I had was a great aunt who lived to 102. She died in the 80s. I didn't know her but it seemed very impressive for someone to live to over a hundred.
Quite a good innings really.
Oldest one still alive is my uncle who is about 95.

Grandma, 94. Hope I have her genes, I've outlasted my parents by several years.

Imagine suddenly being confronted by a ginger sprog! Anyway my parents could have had a longevity gene but environment, diet etc caused other problems that lead to their demise.

I’ve never “had” any of my relatives, that’s just what posh people do.

I’ve never “had” any of my relatives, that’s just what posh people do. That's a slightly odd comment. I'm not posh so not personally offended but it is quite rude to posh people. I don't think there are actually any posh people on here. Well there might be one I suppose. ETA to clarify in case anyone thought I was posh. No I am not. I have innate class and breeding. I am part of my parents "issue". This is not related to the rather infra dig position of being "posh". Seriously.

I don't hold out much hope for my gene pool - OTHER than being luckily Ginger, my lot dont generally last long... both grandands were dead by early 50s, grannys had strokes early 60s and dementia... mum had her first stroke at 55 and then began a gradual decline, concluding with dementia after the knees, and hips had packed up.
Dad's side are all bowel disorders (he's one of 13 and from memory, all the deceased siblings have had bowel cancers - he's now had most of his removed and copes with a bag.
I've been on blood pressure meds since my early 30s...like I said - I'm lucky to be ginger...

It's actually "the lady doth protest too much, methinks".
So not relevant to me.
It's terrible being born with a 316 stainless steel spoon in ones mouth.

It is a well known fact kris that only posh people EVER wear raffia hats ... res ipsa loquitur ... what can I say ... hoisted by his own petard which is a nautical expression I suspect @magnetman will be enthusiastic about Rog
