I’ve got no interest in being an mp. No I'd also hate it..and any other similar role.. no to councils..no to church wardens...etc..

I’m still interested in getting an exemption even if the forum does have a troll.

I doubt it,but you never know. I’m 100% certain old widebeams should be exempt. being honest Kris, I believe they should be exempt from the surcharge as well or given a healthy discount on the licence fee. Historic boats are an incredibly important part of the waterways for the non boaters to see. It's like the meeting the ex commercial barges used to have at the late lamented Goole waterways museum. They are an important part of the history of this country
Visitors love seeing them especially the bigger ones, but for the owners it's a massive money pit and you have CRT standing with their hand out. I dread to think what the licence fee is for the Freda There is no acknowledgement from CRT that they are of value to the scene, in fact quite the opposite

I agree completely John, I think this was in effect cart putting two fingers up to the owners of old widebeam working boats. Okay I get the 10% historic boats discount, but they have effectively taken it away with the widebeam surcharge and added 10% to my liscence with the loss of the prompt payment discount. So effectively my liscence has gone up 20% in two years.

CRT should wake up to the importance of historic boats.. Its like old cars that are preserved.. once gone they could be gone forever CRT just need to wake up..... ..... we NEED a Trust that we can trust. i just think these organisations fail to see the real good they could do... theres just too many people wanting to be important that the simplicity of what they could achieve passes them by.
