It seems it’s going to take someone being killed by carts wilful lack of preventative maintenance before they do anything. A corporate man slaughter case with Parry in the dock, should make him think.

Nothing in particular, but I was just talking to a boater who witnessed the balence beam break on the lock on the Warwickshire ring.

Not particularly no, I hope it doesn’t happen to be honest. But at this point it seems inevitable.

Kings Langley lock is fucked but I think that's old news.
These rotting out heel posts are well dodgy.

This was a balence beam that broke, sounds quite scary and potentially lethal.

That's interesting so the same as denham deep. If I remember right they have similar composite gates. Wooden heel post rots out and lets the steel balance beam go... This could become quite a common failure mode. At least it's structure failure not boater damage this time Dangerous structures.

I see they are sending “engines,” to have a look.

Yes I would have thought so, but they are quite rare nowadays. So I suppose it will be the usual orange netting repair.

Full metal jacket was the preferred solution at denham deep.

Well if BBC reporting at the time had been accurate 'Toddbrook dam destroyed' I think our friend Mr Parry would be swinging from the noose right now, so to speak.

But surely that whole incident must have rung alarm bells somewhere within the governance of the country. You think a balance beam of a lock breaking will lead to 'corporate manslaughter'? Theft and murdering a Policeman is just a laugh these days if you're a 'traveller' (ie. squatter and depositer of rubbish on someone else's land): www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8556433/Teenage-driver-PC-Andrew-Harper-case-not-guilty-murder.html
