It is definitely a bit of a weakness if nobody has admin rights to remove the rubbish as it makes the place quite hard to read. I suppose the other approach is to use the other sections and ignore the general boating section.
I'm interested by the fact the new contributor has never posted in any of the other sections.
Perhaps that's just because it keeps things at the top of the rankings.

I'd not heard of that forum but have just read one of the links, and the primary reason for the death of the forum was that it was abandoned by its moderator, which appears to be what has happened with Thunderboat.

Which rather fits with boating! "Mary Celeste was an American merchant brigantine discovered adrift and deserted in the Atlantic Ocean off the Azores Islands on December 4, 1872. None of those who had been on board were ever heard from again." adrift and alone!

It does appear that way doesn't it. Proboards seem to offer "free" forums but for some reason I seem to think they might at some stage want some money. Or maybe it's all ad supported.

D9 hasn't logged on for over two weeks, hasn't posted for over four months and has only posted twice in the last year so I think it's fair to say that his interest in the forum has evaporated. I believe somebody texted him a few days ago to appraise him of the current situation but he hasn't acted on it. Of course, there could be any number of things going on in his life which take precedence but without someone with the ability to delete spam accounts then they are only going to proliferate.

We do need delta9 to take an interest a least to appoint someone spam eradicator. If it doesn’t happen soon then the forum will dwindle as it becomes increasingly unusable.

This forum has been a lifeline during Covid when we were all self isolating, I'd hate for the actions of sad individuals to wreck the community that this place has evolved into.

The actions of one idiot will only wreck the place, if we let them.

The actions of one idiot will only wreck the place, if we let them. The problem is that there are two now, the other one being the Vietnamese football spammer who posts in the Politics forum, and if there's nobody around to delete these posts and accounts then more will arrive, possibly at random but possibly because it will become known that this is a forum where spam can be posted with impunity. As I've said before, this is what caused the collapse of Usenet, that it got to the point where the spam messages completely overwhelmed them and valuable content became lost amongst the spam.

Yes as you keep saying Vince. We all know we need d9’s assistance. Has anybody tried to contact him?
