I’ve just heard that cart are supposed to be dredging the Trent starting this week. I’m not sure of the details yet, watch this space. I’m sure it will just be spot dredging.

Anything must be an improvement on nothing ... good news.

guess it depends on the draught.. Do they dump the dredged stuff or do they have to treat it?

guess it depends on the draught.. Do they dump the dredged stuff or do they have to treat it? They just let it go, to flow down stream if they are spot dredging.

They just let it go, to flow down stream if they are spot dredging. so does it then silt up further down? Yes, at the pinch points. But the immediate problem is solved, which is what cart are all about.

down stream at Gunness and Flixborough they are often little tugs "ploughing" to get the silt away from the ship berths.
Quite fascinating going past there at low water and seeing ocean going ships dried out alongside the quays
