Another nice one. Ex Thames Conservancy inspection launch. Yes it is a TC one. Wooden boat. They did GRP ones after that.

It's a lovely boat ... pity that particular private 'discussion' keeps getting circulated.
I would choose the Stewart & Lloyds tugs ... in particular the tug 'Vesta' which is stored at Braunston bottom lock .
Don't think I have a photo though.
Rog
ETA Vesta was a full length Star Class Woolwich, built in 1935 and shortened to work as a tug ... can't find a photo at the moment

Oddly I have a photo of 'Pacific' which was built by Yarwoods in 1935 as a tug ... but I prefer 'Vesta'. When I'm too old, or tired of living on a boat (if that happens) I'd love to own something like this to tootle about on and maybe camp on for the odd night. Rog

Have posted about the Wast Hill Tunnel tug boats before. We espied 'Sharpness' again (have seen it two times previously and chatted to the owner 7 years ago on the Stratford Canal) last July to the south of Braunston. "Commissioned by the Sharpness New Docks Company, the Narrow Canal Tug SHARPNESS was to be one of three steam tugs based at Tardebigge. The other two tugs were the WORCESTER and the BIRMINGHAM, both built by the same builder." ww1britainssurvivingvessels.org.uk/vessels/sharpness.htmlThat's a bloomin' long tunnel, Wast Hill, first one I did on my own (well, after Brandwood, but that's short).

2 nice Broads bathtubs too. Phil There’s one of those broads boats moored at Braunston, being refitted I was told. This is also at Braunston. That’s my favourite narrowboat, sharpness. Yes magnetman it has a 4l2 in it.

The house that it moors outside is for sale, next door to the pub. No idea if the boats included. Is a beautiful shape.

Rog We(I) nearly brought a tug boat a while back. Bed under the deck job, I love the shape of them. Ali(rightly) pointed out the impracticality of it. Hmm.

I seem to recall that Vesta had a National engine ... when I was chatting to the owner he'd just had a load of rebuilding work done on it.
I don't know about Pacific ... it visited Braunston for an Hysterical boat show which is when I must have got the pic.

Isn't there one called Bittel?
Not checked but I think Pacific might have a Bolinders in it. Not a semi-diesel.
It was a bloke called John Pattle who did the rebuild of the boat but he had another boat so the Bolinders could have been in that.
