I do not have an iron. if I am given clothes that need ironing they don't get it, I might allow drip drying but ironing is a definite no no. I had a wife that ironed and who used to do her nut about me wearing a shirt that wasn't ironed ..... Oh the rows.
she just wouldn't accept my stance that body heat got rid of the big wrinkles and that was good enough. "I'm not going out with you looking like that" .... "S'ok I'll stay in and have a beer instead" Having had an office-based job for 20 years I had no option but employ an iron far too often. I hate irons and I hate ironing- I honestly cant see why we cant invent a shirt that doesnt crease up in the wash. But it is what it is- the Illuminati are still keeping the creaseless shirt secret (along with the whole 5G martian invasion thing), so I have no option but to occasionally wield the hated iron. Plus, I dont want to get too blokey just because I'm on a boat. I'm not trying to get in touch with with my feminine side or anything like that, but I've learned that one of the good things about living with a partner is that they tend to have more awareness of the state of your living environment, and of the need to keep it civilised. So without a partner I'e got to make that effort to keep things more or less civilised- including the ironing of shirts when visiting civilised or posh places.

I'll keep you posted on that- I have another week or two yet to look online. The boat is on the Great Ouse near Stretham, so my plan is to head up to Denver Sluice starting around 15th Aug, and then on to Peterborough. I was going to travel every day but to be honest I was so impressed by the area when I visited that I'm reluctant to rush things. I've not been to Kings Lynn in decades, so I'd love to stop near there, and maybe potter around for a month or two- but I'll have the car so can pop over any time. Norfolk and that area is as flat as a pancake, but it still has its own very real beauty, and I'm not going to rush to get onto the GU.

It's amazing how people have the skills to create inserts and spacers to adapt these collars to a sloping roof, but what I dont get is why more of the manufacturers dont make them to fit a sloped roof in the first place.

Uxbridge boatyard sells them. You just need to shape it to your roof. Easily done. Alternatively, buy a lump of hardwood and make it yourself. Took me half a day.

Thanks Loddon, that looks perfect. This is the blurb from the website: Cast Iron chimney collar as used on canal boat roofs to terminate the stove pipe and mount the external chimney. This collar suits chimneys of 6" diameter. The flange on the collar is set at an angle to help compensate for the curvature of the boat roof - see pictures. The collar would normally be used with stove pipes nominally 4" to 4.1/4" outside diameter. The stove pipe should pass through the collar and end flush with the top edge. The large clearance between the outside of the stovepipe and the inside of the collar allows the pipe to be angled to suit the stove, and the remaining gap should be tightly packed with 1/2" (12mm) fibreglass rope (see our listing for this item in our shop, 'heating' section). Dimensions - Overall size - 12" x 8" (300mm x 200mm) Bottom spigot - 6" (153mm) outside diameter x 2.1/2" long (63mm) below the flange. Top spigot - 5.7/8" (150mm) outside diameter at the top, increasing slightly lower down. Stands approx 2.1/2" (65mm) above the flange. Diameter through the centre is 5" (127mm). 2 x approx 1/2" to 9/16" (13 to 15mm) square holes to suit coach bolts, on 9.1/2" (242mm) centres. Weight - 7.5kg, Packed weight - 9kg Its a bit confusing though. It says at the top it suits chimneys of 6" diameter, but a bit lower down it says it needs a stove pipe 'nominally 4" to 4.1/4" outside diameter', and then further down it says the diameter through the pipe is 5 inches. Can I ask you advice on this- what size flue will fit this?

chimney fits on top so goes outside hence 6" Stove pipe fits up and through the centre hence 4" - 4.25 outside diameter leaving .375" of packing round it.

a head torch (not really sure why I thought that was needed) I have one of these on the boat, takes 3 AAA batteries, very good. Can adjust beam width and brightness. I really should buy one for here at home. Very handy!
