Im 55 early next year, still fit as a fiddle but Im resigned to the fact Ive only got 10 good years left in meπ Im finishing work for good in January and Im going to attempt to achieve everything I have always wanted to do whilst Im still capable of doing it, trans Siberian train trip, touring europe on a sportsbike, do route 66 in a convertible etc When Im too knackered to carry on & thus becoming a burden upon anyone, hopefully Ill have the balls to just walk into the sea. Old people suck!π I think you're writing yourself off a bit quick there ... I'm 65 in a couple of weeks and hoping for another 10 to 15 years of gadding about, keeping active and busy being the trick I think. (Inside my head I'm still about 15, particuarly when the weather's hot and the ladies dress for it. I have to have a word with the inner teenager occasionally).

Strangely I feel about 55 or 60 but as I discovered the other week I no longer bounce as well as I used to when I stubbed my toe and face planted the pavement. Lost a lot of skin, discovered a lot of bruises and worst of all broke my super trendy glasses. Still could have been worse, the frame is cream crackered but the lenses are fine so a simple job to reglaze a new frame with my varifocal lenses . I guess that I'm lucky that I've gone 74 years without any hitches and I have living aboard to thank for that as it's quite a physical lifestyle that keeps you mobile and moving, JohnV will testify the truth of this. I scrambled over the Worms Head a few days ago...something many younger than me cannot do...including daughter whose fear of heights and hatred of rock scrambles restricts activities. Granddaughter planning (if allowed ref Covid) a rock wall climbing birthday party and fully expects i"ll be up there with her...and I will despite the fact that last time(my first ever) I pulled all my intercostal muscles(painful!)... I am not slowing down yet.......

Being old is something that you never think is going to happen but then it does. I don't really see any advantages to it, compared to being 25 for example. Would you have been seen dead on a Honda express when you where 25? See there are some advantages.

When I get to 25 years old I reckon Honda Express will be the retro cool kid choice of wheels.

Last time I looked it appeared about 35 years behind you ... but the hat looks good.

I always try to act my age not my hat size. The other lads at college called me Grandad because of my unusually mature outlook on life. And the fact I was 6 years older than them.
ETA but in my head I will always be 11. It's just the way it is. In the trade it's called "mental age" and it doesn't change.

I still enjoy stuff family deem childish for me ..love interactive museums and having a go with the grand children..we r a long time dead and they refer to me as the crazy nan..thats ok by me.
