There is a reason there are at least two paddles at the ends of locks.
It's not all a jolly good giggle it's so that when one breaks you can fix it while still allowing lock useage.
To not fix them defeats the whole design purpose and is really quite sad considering how well designed it is in the first place.

I noticed only 1 was working the last twice we've been through and commented to David, that the other won't be fixed until the working one breaks... they really are a bunch of incompetents.
I reported it btw, and was told "oh it's ok we know about it"...

This is deliberate, crt are bringing the network to its knees to try and get more money from the gov.

I read yesterday the Buckby flight is now closed till Friday as a cill has gone, I also read it was reported some time ago...
Life's better by water, as long as you don't need to travel through locks.

Derwent mouth lock is closed as well. I wonder how many locks are closed as of right now?

Is this all some deliberate strategy so that a knight in shining armour can come in and save the day, fix the locks, monetize the canals more effectively and generally clean up.
A knight like Capita perhaps.

The paired Cheshire locks are virtually all single at present ... locks chained and taped up.
Not sure if in need of repair (probable) or as some half arsed plan to conserve water (possible).
I do hope it's not a deliberate ploy to abandon the doubles.

Perhaps taking a mooring on at Nantwich wasn't a good idea, should have headed back to the Ashby..

A knight like Capita perhaps. If Serco and G4S can run the DWP and prisons, why not hand the inland waterways over to them as well? Deutsche Bahn could handle the freight on the Aire & Calder, and the Chinese Communist Party can handle the rest. Broken Britain - you see for yourselves how many locks are broken. Still, let's all drown our woes and have a punch-up on a flight to Ibiza!

Orange fencing and aware tape does not a repair make.
Its "contractors" making 2 jobs out of one.

Advised it is open, boats are using it, don't know how many paddles are working, I'll ask when I get a boat passed by.
Pity the poor beggars who pulled their boats back, the will be well sick when boats appear and pass them still stern hauling. I am surprised at Anglo Welsh making them haul them to the winding hole, I would have told them where to get off.
