Yes I am a strong believer in recognising one's own weaknesses and making allowances. It is important to be in touch. In person I come across as a pleasant fellow very talkative everyone would probably say I am alright but in reality I am a horrible, nasty and intolerant/able idiot. It's just the way it is Nothing one can do about it.

Found a nice quiet place to park your boat for tonight? The sounds of the country can be nice... but it is a lonely spot, after all... and you miss company...

In fifteen years of living aboard (9 months a year) I can count on one hand the times others engine/genny has been an issue or more accurately a minor irritation ... on the four or five occasions it's happened, we didn't complain ... just moved away the next morning. Unless you take the view the people are deliberately trying to annoy you, then I accept there's a reason they're running the engine or genny. Life's an occasion ... we should try to rise to it Rog

I have to admit, I have BEEN a bit of a grumpy boater on the weaver this last week... mainly because of what I consider to be OTHER inconsiderate boaters not playing cricket.
tbh, I'm actually cross with MYSELF for allowing mr I'm gonna over take you on a low bridge , then slow down in front of you to tie up on the only lock landing mooring WAY longer than is good for me... I'm also annoyed with myself for sulking with the same 3 boats who have zoomed in and out of locks then pushed ahead to get to the next lock (before they open) and then raced ahead too to get into "prime" spots - it's actually crt's fault for allowing boats to come on to the river via the lift but with the locks closed - hence concetrating all boting to be done on alternate days.
Whilst I do like the weaver, I'm glad to be leaving it tomorrow - certainly on these stupid reduced locking hours as all it has done, is show me how selfish some of the other boaters can be - this is a shame. I like my boaty world but sharing it with people who are only out for themeselves takes the shine off it.
Still, there are 86400 seconds to enjoy each day so if an idiot spoils 20 of them, that still leaves 86380 to enjoy... IF you can stop yourslf being wound up in the first place.

Fortunately some of us are tolerant of others and don't demand everyone lives how we say. I'm too busy enjoying boating to be too concerned what others do ... and if someone should do something I don't like I never complain, simply move. For the greater part of the year Telemachus will not be hearing boat engines or generators anyway ... Aberdeen's quite a way from the system. And on your residential boat in London @magnetman I would suspect the sounds of other boaters are the least of your problems. Live and let live ... and as the great Bard of Avon didn't say "Neither a curtain twitcher nor a nosy parker be " Rog I’m a bit surprised by your attitude. I am all for doing as you please PROVIDED it doesn’t impinge on others. Having consideration for other people is an important determinant between nice people and not nice people. If you have no consideration for others, why not rob them, murder them, run over their children by driving at 90mph through a housing estate, turn locks on them, cut their mooring lines and push them away so you can moor where YOU want to?

You don't know my attitude ... you've just decided what it is ... you even quoted me and then wrote a load of unrelated tosh from your own imagination ... that's fine ... I know you're utterly wrong about me.
I wouldn't presume to judge you ... that seems courteous.

You forgot the bit about thieving other people's boats I could tolerate people running the children over as I did tell them not to play in the road, and the murder thing is sometimes necessary. Not sure about cutting the lines maybe burning them through is better. Turning locks against people is not acceptable in any circumstances.

Yes I've just been out looking for children to run over in a housing estate before I remembered I don't have a car ... now that is inconsiderate.

If I had two choices which involved you killing other people and/or their children or listening to your stinking Beta marine diesel engine starting at 8am while I am dreaming about a beautiful 25 year old woman holding my -hand- then I would definitely choose the thing where you kill other people's kids. And preferably their parents as well.

If I had two choices I'd choose that @magnetman never leaves the Thames and that Telemachus rarely cruises the system. Doh ... if I'd realised I'd get my choices I'd have gone for a lottery win ! Rog

I am still having therapy about the knee thing. Always have had a tendency to be incredibly disturbed by this sort of image. It took me 3 years and approximately £13,075 of analyst and shrink fees to finally remove the knifeman image which naughtyfox was so kind to put on that calendar. Thirteen grand! That's more than I earn in a week!
