That was apparently misinformation.
PLA have said passage under the bridge is allowed on one side. Forget which.
Thames forum member PeterBoater posted this yesterday evening:
--- "From the PLA: Following reports of the closure of navigation at Hammersmith Bridge, the PLA confirms that the northern half of the bridge is closed. However, the southern side of the bridge remains open to recreation and leisure vessels. We continue to work with the owners of the bridge." ---

Another nice bridge of course is Hammersmith bridge but it's just been announced that nobody is allowed on it at all because it is cracking up. How sad. And over a hundred million pounds to fix it !! Surely it would be better to build a new one. Sounds like a bargain to me...
The Boris Garden Bridge cost 53 million and didn't get out of the planning stage!

that's strange - suspension bridges don't work like that!

Do you mean Trans Pennine Trail peterboat ? Rog Could be I dont take much notice of the walking bit, just like the viaduct. Walking from the lock at Pastures can get you to it, and at the connisborough side there used to be a cottage that my mate Leslie lived in as a young girl

Rain at times(just to update weather forecast on here)...murky...warm... On the beach..well to be precise as we walked off the beach..grandson nearly knocked for six by a racing 'must beat my PB idiot cyclist who then screamed at us... He also shouted at dog walkers..... I reccomend a stick through the front pokes Patty its normally lets them see your point of view better next to canals where you can throw the body and bike into the water to get rid of the evidence pour water onto severe injuries to help

A 3 year old lad easily viewable strayed on the edge of 'his space' The dog walkers told me he said he didn't care for their dogs..they also strayed.. trouble is the paths run side by side and the pedestrians bit has dog walkers, kiddies on scooters, buggies, old folk with sticks etc and the cyclist bit has.....cyclists and a few skateboarders Its getting silly busy.

The problem with a lot of cyclists is that they have been given the message for about two decades now that they have a greater moral right to be on the road (or anywhere) than anyone else because cycles are 'green'.

Are you stuck on the wrong side then? No I'm up river and staying on the non tidal. I did think about taking the boat to London to join my other boats as have not yet had it on the tideway but it was never essential to do that so Hammersmith bridge is of no consequence.

The job of saving the planet for everyone else is very arduous when you are such a small minority. It's no wonder they feel special. Someone has to do it. Of course cyclists seem to forget totally that the only truly valid form of transport is walking. And boats obviously.

I reccomend a stick through the front pokes Patty its normally lets them see your point of view As demonstrated in this scene from Indiana Jones and the last crusade. I also think the jousting one has some merit. There do in fact appear to be quite a few hastilude opportunities available when confronted with a psychlist.

However if you are a cyclist there is a lot to contend with. But in this vid, which is intended to show just how terrible the lot of a cyclist truly is, it seems painfully obvious how just about everybody in it deserves a Darwin award. The species is doomed.

That's probably what cyclists say about pedestrians on towpaths.
