There are loads of apocryphal stories about locations where really bad things happen.
Hand grenade down the chimney in Leicester was one. And tins of paint dropped on boats etc.
How true the stories are is unclear but there are plenty of them.
My worst one was on the River Lea near Tottenham Hell
Scumbags throwing pieces of railway ballast at my head. Not nice but true unfortunately.

...................... pubescent boys showing off to their pubescent girlfriends by jumping off bridges at Sonning and Wallingford as close as possible to passing boats.
alright for you on your mini-trawler - the worst you risk is having to extract a broken body from your davits. In my case they would go straight through and sink the boat, although their darling bodies would be nicely sprinkled with wood splinters and epoxy-glass (which cuts like a knife).

Bricked twice while kayaking. Once at High Lane on the Macc then again 2 days ago near Calveley on the Shroppie. Both were close, but missed.

Worst for me was just blackberries chucked from a bridge in Brum...just coming back from having her painted... they splattered everywhere... could have been worse, could have been bricks

I did have loads of them at Hurley when I went under the bridge on the floating electric beer drinking platform. As I approached I suggested "if you are going to jump on me make it one of the girls who does it!" This got them giggling and discussing with each other what I had said and was it funny giving me time to leave the danger zone. Of course it's just a foot bridge. Much less practical at Sonning or Wallingford.

I had a couple of kids spitting at me from bridge 2 on the shroppie yesterday, not nice at any time but in these strange virus days!! Suppose it could have been worse and they could have been throwing bricks.

I think Clinton Cool might be unlucky. After all one of his tenants was a gun toting black drug dealer. Not ideal.

There was a boat break in at Calveley recently as well.Really strange as we thought it was a pleasant, quiet place to go to when we fancied a weekend out of the marina.

Well where do you think all these people in posh residential areas are getting their money from? Thieves the lot o' em. Boaters an easy target. I wouldn't moor in Alrewas. Pikeys and Crusty Jugglers everywhere these days!

Touching wood as I write this. I find far fewer bored youths hanging around towpaths in recent years. I think internet activity takes up much of their time. Also covid has lead to almost anything that floats being out and about now. Strength in numbers and all that.

Suppose it could have been worse and they could have been throwing bricks. Spitting is not nice, especially these days. Bridge 2 is a place I always coast through in neutral to avoid the Morrisons trollies. The railway viaducts on the S&W between Autherley an Aldersley junctions always make me nervous; I've seen serious stuff off there.

I seen to remember some issues at the bottom end of the shroppie. Kids throwing objects at the boats from bridges. It seemed to be well known. That's about 20 years ago or more but some things don't change.

I have had a few over the years shot at with air rifle in Brum when first bringing the boat back, Andy a mate who was helping also had a air rifle and shot the window through of the flat where the youth was shooting from!! Second one was bricks at Kilnhurst they then went down to next bridge to have another go By that point I had catapult and ball bearings ready [souped up bait catapult] I won the second round! Funniest was with Lynn Knottingly youths bearing their backside at her made her day laughing at them
