about 17/18 years ago I fitted a Tecma Elagence macerating toilet, (apart from having to buy a new macerator unit when someone dropped a glass perfume bottle in the pan ...... and then flushed it !!!) It has performed faultlessly ...... until Monday morning when I lifted the seat ....... and it came off in my hand !!!
Both the hinge pins had sheared ...... on examination it looked like one had gone ages before and it was only held by one. Started phoning around to get one but didn't really anticipate a big problem, after all they use the same hinge on several models and there are lots of stockists .......... wrong !!!
They are a bit like rocking horse shit ....... I found only three suppliers who stock them ...... but only as part of a complete toilets seat assembly ........ cheapest price £160 !!!
I mean, come on ...... that much for a loo seat for gawds sake !!! ..... I mean I know the whole thing was eyewateringly expensive when I bought it (but at that time it was one of the few marine toilets that didn't m ake you feel like an elephant ballancing on an egg cup) ....... but Lord £160 for a loo seat ...... and it's not gold plated and set with diamonds !!!
anyway I set too with my files and an electric drill and bored a hole in each end of the broken hinge pins (brass) and inserted a steel peg (made from a cut down drill bit shaft) that joined the two together and then screwed it all back together
Yipee !!! I have never earned £160 for half an hours work before !!! it all works fine again !!! lets be honest if it only lasts half as long as the original it will have been worth it !!!

Yes exactly. Bridge as in boat helm not the fixed type that Andyberg was so determined to discuss previously.

Thank you everyone..shes beautiful and already beginning to get a few odd patches of darker coat..be interesting to see how her colouring changes with mum and dad normal German Shepherd colouring. Most of the neighbours have socially distanced( ) at the gate to say hello to her... Intend ensuring she meets as many as possible ..atm we sit with doors open both wrapped in a blanket...
