I was told that March had the highest number of sex shops per head of population of any UK town. More pertinent to my tastes, I noticed a branch of Domino's pizza on the main street. If I am weather-bound here tomorrow (well, wind-bound), I shall be making their acquaintance. Not chancing any pubs yet, it still feels a bit too risky for an unhealthy old geezer like me.

Not specifically but you're a lot more worried about where to moor than you will be when you've settled in. Mooring in 99% of places is almost completely safe. I don't have any stats to back this up but I'd wager the odds of having a house broken into, overall, are higher than having boat broken into, also overall. Cheers Ricco, I do think there is more than a touch of beginner's uncertainty in my pondering over mooring places. The other boats have gennies and gear all over the place and they didn't seem too worried at all. What has struck me is that both of the moorers I spoke to here were relative youngsters. I have to say they are very friendly and approachable (like the young guy who helped me at the lock). There are more of these younger folks living on boats than I expected to see, and thats no bad thing I think. I was the same at first. 7 years on I leave fishing equipment on my roof, nobody has touched it. Kayak pegged into the bank behind my boat, bike on the towpath, nobody has touched them. I avoid mooring close to towns too often though, if I can help it

March it is, for better or worse. You may find March grows on you if you do a little exploring, and reading up on its history. There may be some nice pubs, and some nice cafes. We spent much time in Sowerby Bridge (next to Halifax) and became rather fond of it, and it still feels like a 'second home' to us. There is nothing at the end of any road better than may be found beside it.

Well I've lived my life subscribed to the notion that if there's one attractive feature about a woman then she's attractive enough. In her case I'd hope my mates wouldn't see her; instant drop in kudos. If I'd had 10 pints though my kudos would rise, whether she was seen or unseen. Other than a 10 pinter we might have described her as 'grateful for it' I don't know if we were a strange lot back then or we just seemed strange, now. "Tha don't look at t'mantelpiece while tha's pokin' t'fire" The bigger the cushion, the better the pushin'

I'm still not sure about trying out the pubs yet- the very last thing I need is to catch that damn virus. The forecast for tomorrow is 20mph cross winds with 35mph gusts, so there's a good chance I'll stay put and have a good look around tomorrow, and then move on Sunday.

I think she's quite attractive, actually, although the tattoo is hideous - why do women have to get tattoos all over their boobs? Makes no sense to me. Really? She looks likes she has 2 jaws and a mouth full of tombstones. It would be like having a rat on the end of it. She looks 'Siberian' to me - probably Latvian/Lithuanian/Estonian. Looks quite sweet and cuddly to me. I do think Victoria Beckham looks like a pile of cat sick, if that helps?

You're jealous because you don't have a cratch in which to store firewood. Not particularly - I have no burning desire to have a stinky dirty solid fuel stove, diesel fired heating is much more space and fuel efficient. I will be honest..I got so fed up with solid fuel at Horror House...will never go back to it.. The fine layer of soot everywhere, the lugging of coal and wood ..its not for me

I can't help thinking it's a made-up virus and doesn't really exist at all, just a way for the government(s) to have us all on the hop and worried to death. Certainly no-one is wearing masks here in Finland! Wear a mask, cut a hole in it, and drink your beer through a straw?!! Anyway, do have a hunt for cafes and bakeries - rarely a disappointment.

At least 50,000 people are now in coffins, who would be alive today (some of them for not much longer, admittedly) if they hadn't caught it. I'm not sure how much more real it can get. I don't see a way that every Western government could carry out a mass con-job and manufacture death rates, and get away with it. I'm just not sure what the mechanism is for that to happen. And for a generic ambition of keeping us worried, would all the governments of the world get together and conduct the biggest con-job in human history? The US has lost about 180,000 people to it. My younger brother had it, and he's an ex-Navy diver who doesn't give a toss about any level of pain or discomfort, if he has a point to prove to someone- and he said its the nearest he's felt to dying. When it was bad he was on the verge of calling an ambulance as he was really struggling just to breathe. This thing is absolutely real. It doesnt have a high chance of killing you, but it will make your life hell for a few weeks. Do not take chances with this one Mr Fox- not if you are over 60

Do not take chances with this one Mr Fox- not if you are over 60 The thing is, all the news of coronavirus in Brazil and Italy and Spain and the USA seems to have fizzled out. No-one here is taking it seriously (apart from Pirkko, my girlfriend, who is over 60). Flights are reduced and the bridges to Sweden are manned... but no-one is wearing masks, and 'social distancing' is non-existent here. I've been following this with interest since March (5 months) and I still don't know is it real or rubbish. Boaters in England seem to be merrily boating away! School holidays in 6 weeks' time and I am inclined to visit our boat - from what I read, trains in England are mostly empty, so not much chance of catching the virus in a train with a mask on? I read/hear both sides... I see incompetent governments, I see people panicking, I see people not giving a toss, I see police not arresting people who are clearly not practicing social distancing on their Black Lives Matter knees-up. I also note a distinct lack of people suggesting the whole world should sue the pants off China who gave it to us!
