With regard to Graham Davis I totally agree.... A totally sanctimonious arse in my book! It's probably to do with his background of being a signalman. Totally driven by rules and regulations and can't think outside the signal box...

As I have pointed out before, how comes 'Rabies' is allowed to keep the Welsh flag as his avatar? Political statement or what?!!

Just found this place today after a couple of searches after the recent shenanigans on CWDF and am relieved to have found the continuing Canning Dock saga. With regard to Graham Davis I totally agree.... A totally sanctimonious arse in my book! Welcome aboard the Thunderboat Larkboy

I don't get the amount of apologists on CWDF for the inadequacy of the navigation authorities in maintaining the waterways, and in C&RTs use of large sums of trust income to peruse heavy handed and ill advised 'legal' proceedings against alledged rule breakers. Are these people in the employ of said organisations? I have been following all the legal cases with great interest, given that C&RT are scheduled to take over the Great Ouse, my home system, at some point. I was disturbed to find these threads locked and removed and the apparent subsequent cull, but the final push I needed to seek out this place was the patronising and sanctimonious tone of some of replies to the 'My disaster of a holiday' thread. I made a couple of posts showing some sympathy with the op, and whilst expecting disagreement and debate, and I can tolerate personal insult, it was the blinkered, and I'll say it again, sanctimonious self righteousness of a few of the respondents which finally made me search out this site, and on fist impressions I'm glad I did so. 🙂

Good for You Larkboy !!! It has got desperate over "there" if you object to CRT's actions in any way and heaven forfend that you suggest impropriety or unfairness in moderation decisions !!! If you are not careful you suddenly find yourself one of los desaparicidos !!!
(Spoke to a couple of maintenance guys on the Gt Ouse, they were non too happy with the way things were going even without going over to CRT)

DEFRA have squeezed the navigation budget really hard. Licence fees keep rising over and above inflation though.

I don't know if Richard Parry was merely producing "corporate theatre", but he recently gave a date as 2018 for the handover. I know they have a working group (which of course is out of public view), that feels it's made progress, and hopes to make an announcement around Xmas time.

I'd like to add that my concerns are for all of our inland waterways, but obviously the Great Ouse system is the area that has the most direct impact on my wife and I. We are hoping, in the not too distant future, to have 6/9 months off work to do the system, and even further down the line would like to constant cruise, so all of the actions (or lack of) from the navigation authorities are of concern to me, especially as in the 11 years I've lived on a boat the license fee has risen by much more than inflation, yet the service has gotten worse.

Just seen a classic from Mr Fincher over there...
" Personally I have "visited" it [TB forum] only accidentally, when looking for something else via Google, and what that found told me I would never go there by choice. only accidentally, when looking for something else via Google, and what that found told me I would never go there by choice."
Sounds like the same excuse people use when 'accidentally' visiting other more dubious web sites to me...
Come on Alan, we know you are watching us watching you. Come and say hello.

You reminded me of this little Britain classic.
