So yesterday afternoon I approached the above lock to go to Sheffield today, the lock is still wrecked from the floods last November! but another development is the offside gates have been fenced off by building contractors who are working on the old Tesco site. When I realised I would not be able to reach these gates I inquired of the builders how did I get in there to do so? all I received was verbal abuse now this lock is near the main police station and council HQ passersby from both heard this and commented on it. anyway after a struggle I got through leaving the top gate open as I could not close it, but before that I had contacted the MD of the building company and informed him of events, I had 3 calls back from people lower in the foodchain with the last from HR asking if I could identify the offenders I also tried contacting CRT but had no reply, I eventually spoke on the emergency number and had great help. This morning more phone calls from CRT asking could I go back and close the open gate [you could not make this up] I told them no because their is no access to it, they seemed puzzled by that, I also had a call just from HR from the company saying the offenders had been dealt with, and mine wasnt the only complaint an off duty policewomen had reported it as well [karma] I didnt ask what had happened but their might be vacancies on that site for concreters The upshot is boating a widebeam singlehanded is hard enough without hinderence from stupid builders and CRT who must have seen the gates fenced around making them unusable?
