Wil anyone xeliver to a boat do you know? I had six bags of logs inside boat all summer, it's rapidly diminishing, but it's fun, just sitting here in the forest, seven miles from a supermarket : out of tonic, cheese and white wine, it's a hard life......

Also probably illegal to take firewood from land you don't own without permission.

You don't need tonic. Just swig the gin straight from the bottle, works just as well.

I am not exactly 'computer literate' I do admit ... but even I've never quite grasped why people ask for general information, when the same question tapped into google will be answered in seconds.
Of course asking for opinions or recommendations is a different matter.
Jane's hairdresser of 40 years is at Worksop (don't think there'll be a blue plaque yet) and the Braunston cafe boat, Gongoozler's Rest started life on the Worksop town moorings above the lock (on the car park) in the 1990's by my good friends John and Jenny.
They moved to Braunston about 2000 and sold the cafe to its current owner about 2012.
Sadly John died suddenly in 2014 so didn't get much of a retirement, bless him.

Apparently you have to get planning permission for these. So if you owned a house and wanted to get one which said "This house was never lived in by anyone famous and is completely irrelevant" then you would presumably have to get permission from neighbours who might not share the same humour. I did see a good one in Rye in Sussex which said something like "on this spot in 1872 nothing happened". I also want to do bench plaques. I think it would be good to do bench plaques. In memory of -persons name- who hated this place and everyone who was ever here. In memory of -name- who always moaned about dedicated benches but we did one for him anyway.

Also probably illegal to take firewood from land you don't own without permission. Land ownership is theft in itself. Taken from the people by sticking swords through them, or hanging them, and then just handed down from generation to generation.

Google does not have information on everything. Certainly there is nothing about how to check valve clearances on a Bukh DV10 engine. And nothing about what I did last night.

Taken from the people by sticking swords through them, or hanging them, and then just handed down from generation to generation. This is true and part of the reason that despite my enormous former wealth I have never and will never "own" any land or property. No stocks or shares either as don't believe in that shit. I'm just glad that boat ownership is not theft. That would be incredibly bad. And I agree with the whole pitchforks at dawn for the gentry. They've definitely got it coming. The obvious issue here is that most people do actually aspire to ownership of land and/or property so it's a well set up setup really isn't it. Mick Jagger knew about this. Not a boy/girl thing but a master/slave thing. Only these days you have to pay the slaves so they can get a mortgage and a new car every few years

Hey Socks, I just noticed a shout you did days ago about having to get into the weed hatch and needing a shower afterwards. Looking at the awful state of the water in some canals I've seen, I got a pair of long gloves for about a tenner, for weed hatch duty. Apologies if you've already considered this idea, but I thought it might be worth mentioning. Its not very blokish of me I must admit, but it saves a fair bit of time and water not having to wash my arm off every time I clear the prop. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004ORX57K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Right up to my armpit. I can reach the prop on the outboard with 1/2 inch to spare. If it's really blocked up I can tilt the outboard but I have to move the steel bump cage out of the way.
