Some lovely pictures. Glad you enjoyed it. A good "birthday week" treat x Thanks! Off to the Plough, Huddlesford now, for my birthday meal (mother is paying so no expense spared) - couldn't get a table yesterday as it was the last day of the 50% off deal.

Pleased that you enjoyed it. Lovely area and canal. Might put a couple of pics up tomorrow to supplement yours.

Yup really enjoyed my steak at the plough, good sirloin steak well cooked, and the chips were particularly nice. Yes quite pricy but I don’t find virtue in seeking out the cheapest food. I am more aligned with the French, who think that food should be expensive, after all it is one of the few things we have to pay for that is actually essential for life. The British seem to have an obsession with cheap and quantity, over quality. So sad.

My wife who studied at the Sorbonne would have slapped me for that, or fed me melting ice cream.

Routinely I just need to eat ... fuel cos I'm hungry ... I'm not that interested.
Special occasions (and sometimes that's just cos it feels like it's what we want, and we're fortunate enough to be able to afford it) I would agree that it's worth spending more and making the meal something special.
But what truly vexes me is when I'm charged 'special' prices for very ordinary food.
Glad your birthday meal was special.

Nothing more annoying than spending a fortune on a meal that was pretty shite. But I think the Plough is reasonable value for money, because the food is quite good. Ok my steak was £22 but Jeff’s burger was only around £12 and it looked very nice. He seemed to enjoy it, anyway!
