As my mate said - they are only original once ππ» Ok smartypants - its original as in all the parts are identical to the ones it would have left the factory with. Because of a high degree of interchangeability among models and variations of models, many Seagulls you see advertised have inappropriate parts which do the job but are incongruous. Lost in translation π© I meant original as in dents, warts, scabs, scratches and all (Including non original bits to keep em going as would have been the case when they were being used in anger) mouse has a 1947 TE20 Ferguson tractor, bar for a replacement engine on the early 50's it is as island unrestored, nice honest patina that can never be recreated. 70 is years to earn that stripe. The resto jobs that are better than when they left the factory leave me about cold TBH. I've a 1980 RD250LC in total original condition, one day it will be sold and restored by an unsympathetic new owner π© Besides, dents and crap paint are easier to leave than mend!

No such thing as a 'Silver Outboard'. Not 50s - at least 70s.

I think the patina argument is bollocks but whatever. But each to their own taste. I have a couple of bitsas I am very fond of too.

Unsympathetically restored RC30 & RGV250 I think the Kawa Mach 3 H1 Triple has been sold. A thing of eye-watering concourse beauty.

The RC30 Looks dreadful in that paint scheme - that should only be in HRC colours - or at a push the Castrol Paint job. The RGV looks okay mind - Interesting fact; Suzuki put the autolube tank under the rear seat above the rear wheel - it couldnβt hold 1l of oil when the light came on, crack handed morons could slosh oil all over the shop that ended up on the rear tyre of a powerful, lightweight bike with a fairly knife edge delivery - bad move Mr Suzuki! are they yours?!

Sadly no. They belong to an owner of a bike shop who is a very keen two-stroke enthusiast, to put it mildly. I go and ogle the bikes now and again. I'm not mad-keen on the Camel scheme either but it is how that particular bike made its debut. Originality innit mate. And an RC30 is an RC30. Don't grumble about the paint.

Early 70's I had a 1953 350 Mk5 Douglas. Not original as it had the 90+ front brake and waffle box silencer. Nice looking bike. Still got the Maintenance Manual for it as sold by GD Browns of Godalming. Mate of mine had a totally original one except everything that could be polished was. The crankcases looked like chrome! NAAH, horrible.

Don't believe in too much cleaning and polishing mouse, my Laverda used to get the tank waxed and the Borrani rims polished but only when they started looking too scruffy. I believe too much cleaning of cars is bad, washing anything apart from windows, lights and number plates shortens their life. Mine get all the mechanical bits maintained but that's it. Seems to work, nearly all my cars have gone well over 200k (well apart from a Mk1 Triumph 2000 which only got to about 120k but that's good going for one of them)...... oh and one I wrote off (or rather someone else did) but I think that was up round 100k plus my best was my Astra van which finally went to the breakers just 1,800 miles short of 300k (original engine/gearbox and clutch !!!)

Yes, that dull grey with bits of white oxidised look really does it for me too. And I'm particularly fond of 'covered in shite' too.
