People carry cash around in the same purse, wallet, pockets, that they carry their cards ... not in their mouth.
I continue to use cash as much as possible and am unsure why covid is being used as an excuse to 'side line' it.
If it's about being passed hand to hand ... so is all our mail, online shopping, supermarket and any other shopping so that doesn't stand up.

Cash has become quite 'dirty'..one shop down here will only accept exactly the right money, they will not give change...raiding the penny piggy bank is very tempting but suspect they'd decline transaction. Our local shop will give change ... from a bowl of dettol. That's enough to make most people wave their card instead. ...

The covid lark is a great opportunity for government in one respect. They've wanted to ban cash for some time but it's a tough sell to the electorate. Many people are getting nicely into the swing of things, thanks to covid.
Expect cash to cease to exist within 5 years.

Some visionary folk will desist from banking some notes by the date they become worthless. Not many will have such vision so these notes will be in short supply. I foresee, not too long after they become worthless, a brisk trade on Ebay with bids exceeding the original value of the notes. 'Coke notes' will probably be the best search phrase.
