That would do the job, just need to figure out the size... Once I've balanced the gates on bricks I'll manage Thank you I'll still get pics tomorrow. arrived home bit late in squally weather... Freya so excited to be home, no chance of sorting anything ... looking forward to the photos ...... as regards the bricks, I had been wondering if a car jack would let you lift it, just a bit, but not enough to lift it off the hinges totally

In this topic there is also the position of the posts holding the gates up to consider.
If they are moving then the adjustment could be ongoing and endless.

The fence posts are solid.. they r not moving anywhere..

Crowfoot spanner might work?
Or maybe just a deep socket ?
It seems likely a deep socket would get onto it but it might be obstructed by the screw and washer.
19mm socket I reckon which is the same as 3/4 inch AF.
The thin wrench is for when on a vertical narrow gap not for that sort of obstruction.
If you loosen the inside one nearer the post then some WD40 you might be able to wind the other one in with your fingers but that would need the gate to be jacked up securely to ensure no trapping risk.

WD 40 is pretty useless as a releasing fluid. Can't be arsed reading through this whole thread, but has anyone suggested Plus Gas? I have found a good soak for a couple of days prior to removing stubborn fastners nearly always works. Available at Halfrauds.

Most of the people who were active on that thread have moved on to more interesting things than this forum.
Good advice though.
