It was routine for the murder of George Floyd to be described as being carried out by a white police officer. Quite a lot was made of this. So yes, ethnicity clearly matters. Good point. And then you have gang rapists described as 'Swedish men' when they are really Somali 'refugees' who have merely been granted residence permits in Sweden. Or perhaps born in Sweden and have Swedish Passports.
And then you have the gentlemen who have made their money abroad and claim to love the peoples of those countries... and now live on a quiet leafy street, enjoying their pension, with their white- only English neighbours where there are no 'unsavoury' foreigners because, nudge nudge, wink wink... "they can't afford to live here!" They are quick to claim others are racist though, in a show of virtual signalling. I call these people hypocrites. So they would be Swedish men then, no?

You've got the Jesus born in a stable question there - was Jesus a donkey? And here's another virtual-signalling hypocrite, Gary Lineker with his "Migrants brought fish & chips to the UK" advert. Has our Gary taken in any migrants himself as promised? Says it all.

I counter Riccoβs bet that he was black, with my bet that he was a brown asylum seeker with mental health issues. Maybe it was Justin Trudeau? Certainly looks like the 'mental health issues' is valid with this one.

A guy went to work this morning to do his job ... coming up to a well earned retirement ... no doubt with dreams and plans ... and suddenly his family and friends will never see him again ... their worlds shattered.
Is it just me that thinks this focus on the offender is perverse ?

Is it just me that thinks this focus on the offender is perverse ? Rog How do you know what he did at work, and how do you know his retirement was 'well-earned'? He might have been one of the 'over-zealous' who went round fining little old ladies sitting on park benches eating their cheese and pickle sandwiches, because they weren't exercising. The Chief of Police in Helsinki got done for dealing drugs ... would anyone say his retirement was 'well earned'?

Well my 5.00 p.m. deadline has passed, no further description of the assailant from the BBC. I guess they are holding off for a while, in support of 'black lives matter'. There is a big picture of a black police officer on their news page, looking rather sheepish, holding a bunch of flowers. Staged, quite possibly, again, in support of 'black lives matter'.

Is it just me that thinks this focus on the offender is perverse ? Rog No. I was just thinking that a man is dead and all some can think about is whether or not a black man was involved. There are some sick folks on this forum. I wish they would take their illness elsewhere.

Well my 5.00 p.m. deadline has passed, no further description of the assailant from the BBC. It's being reported by the BBC that he was "known to counter-terrorism police having been on their radar in the past" so infer what you will from that.

I heard that too.All I can think of is a man near retirement age...won't.I still can't get how the 'alleged' killer managed to get a gun into the police station.Something went very badly wrong.

Not allowed to interact closely with suspect ie full body search until they have been tested for Covid 19?
If it's that then what a ridiculous situation for police officers to find themselves in.
You couldn't make it up.

It's being reported now that he was handcuffed when he fired the gun.
