The time came for us to abandon ship and return to the house for the remainder of the year. Curiously one of the ways the train company decided they could make us 'covid safe' was by increasing our train fares (with senior rail cards) from around £28 for us both to over £60 ... ah well I thought ... it's got to be done. We now have to wear face coverings on the station, not just on the train, which seems slightly odd in what, in effect is an open air wind tunnel at Leamington. Normally we get a direct train from Leamington to Sheffield ... however our considerate train company, to assist in keeping us 'covid safe' have decided to redirect some trains and change routes ... and we're one of the lucky recipients of such change. This means we had to train into Birmingham Moor Street, walk a one way system requiring us to weave the length of four full platforms before being able to exit the station, walk through Birmingham centre to access Birmingham New Street, find our train and then wait with all the other passengers on a narrow, underground platform for twenty minutes as although the train was in and waiting, to keep us 'covid safe' it was locked and access was not permitted until 5 mins before departure. What the hell ... we're all in masks I thought. Once on the train I discovered I am not permitted to sit with my wife of 41 years as we all have to sit ONLY in a window seat to keep us all 'covid safe'. However repeated public address announcements about distancing and staying 'covid safe' are regularly interupted to announce that there is a buffet car open at the end of the train selling exorbitantly priced tasteless food and drink... so I and everyone else, is free to wander up and down the train, with their purchases, but despite paying over sixty quid, I cannot sit with my wife as this would not be 'covid safe'. I understand some people are very vulnerable to a respiratory infection, and that some people are very worried about this virus. But these ever more absurd attempts at infection avoidance are beyond ridiculous, and there's no wonder a growing number of people seem to be resisting the nonsense. It will be a shame if simple, sensible hygeine precautions become tainted with the bolted-on 'covid safe' idiocy to the detriment of the whole package. After all ... what's the worry ... apparently you can only catch or spread covid after 10pm Rog about time you realised that it has all been arranged especially to piss you off while everyone else can get on with their lives as normal. It's a bit of a rant for me ... a minor irritation ... nothing significant really ... but for people like quaysider it's their businesses that are being choked to death ... their livelihoods being destroyed. Would that they could get on with their lives without layers of stupidity being introduced over and above sensible precautions. Rog

Think of it as a school fire drill.
The school might not burn down but it's worth knowing what to do if it does.
For "school" substitute "planet".
Shit might happen, and it might happen faster than you can ever imagine but on the other hand..
Of course the principle of treating adult humans as if they were school age kids is a bit questionable but there we are. This is what we have.
What can you do?

By the way, there a big difference between a libertarian and a fascist. Not everyone who opposes 'progressive' modern day social liberalism, with its ever growing restrictions on individual liberty and the banishment of individual responsibility in favour of collective responsibility, is a fascist. That may be so but you are a fascist who lacks the courage to admit it. Fascists always dress up hate as reason. Actually I'm a humanist and a libertarian in fairly equal measures. I didn't realise this for some time, I had to read a fair bit in and around different political stances until I realised what my position was. You on the other hand, seem to be suffering from a delayed departure from the naïve preachings of Blair and Brown. This was when modern day social liberalism was incepted, of course. The days when everyone who wasn't fully behind this new way of thinking was branded a racist, a bigot or a fascist. Simply by default, conversation around this wasn't permitted. The vast majority of people have moved on from this position. A political view is just that, a view. We're all entitled to them. We can have different religious beliefs, different political views, it's OK. None are inherently better than others. There's always the odd exception though, bigots such as yourself.

I can't say I've ever listened to any politician with anything you could call 'attention'. Its more that I've always found hate to be very distasteful. You are neither a humanitarian or a libertarian. You are a hate-filled racist, nothing more.
Here's an example: you buy a house from auction which is being sold through that system because its not possible to get a mortgage on it because the building has some serious defects. However it is cheap. It's not a problem though because you're going to be 'forced' to rent it to the people you regard as pigs anyway (the only ones desperate enough to consider it). Then, when its time to sell your slum dwelling, and the only possible buyers are those with cash, you invent some bizarre theory about why an entire culture is inferior to you because they can't produce the money fast enough for your liking. Not racist? Oh boy.
I understand you can't say 'hey gang, lets kill all the darkies and fire up the ovens' straight away, I really do. You have to build up to it with 'hey gang, isn't it jolly unfair some people who don't look like us get preferential treatment'?
Its not ok to have a 'political' position that advocates hate, ever. And you call me a bigot? What a laugh.

What about Clinton Cool's virtue flag "anarchy with responsibility"? looks cool, it's bollocks, a merkin to cover selfishness. Responsibility just for yourself or to humanity in general? My understanding is that for anarchy to stand any chance the participants have to behave impeccably. This includes taking the vaccine to stop the spread of the virus to vulnerable members of society.

Not every individual within the species, that's humanitarianism, it's different. Humanitariansim calls for people who are hungry to be fed. Humanism calls for systems to be invoked, based on science rather than God, that stop people being hungry in the first place. There are far too many people on this planet already who are using too much stuff. This virus should have been a wake up call. But no, once it's contained, possibly by vaccine, cue enormous growth 'to balance the economy'. I won't be taking any vaccine. If others wish to, that's up to them. If I contract Covid because I chose not to be vaccinated and subsequently die, that's fine. It was my choice. Me leaving the planet would not be another nail in the coffin for humanity. Rather, it might just be giving it a helping hand.

You gotta love an anarchist who cries every time something doesn't go as he planned. Doh!

So that your fellow humans can continue having a choice. As a Responsible Anarchist there's no argument against it. Same goes for wearing a mask, it's more to protect others than oneself.

I believe that people should be offered any vaccine and for it to be their choice whether to take it, not one made for them by government. I take what your saying but one of the fundamentals of humanism is that individuals should be relatively free from government constraint. I said relatively free, not totally free, there is a place for government. From a personal point of view I don't have regular close contact with large numbers of people. I avoid this. It's my responsibility to do this. The best way for this virus to be curbed is not to slavishly follow each confusing government message and u turn. It's not reckless to not wear a mask (I do wear one) but it's probably reckless to get on a flight, regardless of whether you're wearing a mask or not. It's reckless to be in a crowded pub, your presence there adding to the crowd.

How about wiping out China to stop the continuing spread of Covid-19 and all the other viruses they have made in their bioweapons laboratories?
I'm wearing a mask today. Corona has struck at one school and 100 kiddies 'exposed' to it. The kids on my bus have asked why I have a mask on and I say "It's because you all have Corona!" Actually, I only wear it to scare everyone and make other motorists look and think... what??!!
