I know it’s a lot to ask for, but I think boaters have got to find a bit more solidarity. If cart are ever going to get put back in their box and taught to wind their neck in. That’s not going to happen as many (maybe most) boaters agree with what appears to be CRT’s intentions but object to the poorly worded, badly defined proposed changes. If CRT made a bit of effort to proof read and correct their proposals BEFORE sending them out for consultation they would get a much better reaction. Their PR is surprisingly poor. I'd say it is far more than proof reading and bad PR, more of a misunderstanding by those drawing up the conditions about how the changes would impact on boaters whom most comply with the current conditions and try not to willfully break them.
Two examples for me that I'm concerned about just from a purely selfish point of view;
1. I have a home mooring, if the weather is really hot I sometimes move to an area under trees about 1 mile away, nearly always spaces. I wouldn't call that a cruise if I stayed there a week. The proposals suggest this would not be allowed, yes I'd get away with it still because I doubt I'd be inconveniencing anyone - until some jobsworth/snooper decides just to cause hassle because rules are rules.
2. Going through a lock with a 59' boat that is stated max 57' - again all fine until some jobsworth/snooper decides just to cause hassle because rules are rules.

They're excellent examples in my opinion.
It's obvious you were not a target when the documents were worded ... but if implemented in its present form, it is possible you could be targeted whatever the original intentions.
We need to protest and seek change individually in our responses.

Surely our aim is to improve how C&RT work ? Eh? Bring the publicly owned waterways back into state control, say I. Why support a private company? Unless you are a shareholder or work within it.

It has struck me that this whole thing is a distraction exercise. It distracts attention from the elephant in the room, the dire state of the infrastructure. I don’t think I’ve heard as many “shiny” boaters moan about the state of the waterways as this year.

The 'solidarity' didn't last long kris ... shiny boaters indeed. Rog I put quotation marks around it to show I was just using it as shorthand so people would understand what I meant.

It’s exactly that someone who owns a shiny boat. A shiny boat being a boat that foxy won’t take a picture of and moan about on the forum.

And if that shady spot is visited every/every other week, we can all guarantee the boat won't get spotted on its home mooring thus it will be under enforcement pretty quick. Just as I said share boats will be too.

It seems to me CaRT aren't so draconian that punitive measures are implemented immediately. TD is still in the same spot and it was this time last year it seemed the arrival of the tow boat was imminent - even Tony thought so. If anything they seem quite reluctant to take action.

Being neat & tidy means everything is in order, and you know where everything is, so you can get on with the important things. Being scruffy and offering guests coffee in dirty and cracked mugs is unseemly. There is satisfaction and pride in knowing that one has made an effort.

I don't think there is any intention to apply RCD but checking BS is going to become more rigourous. Why am I not surprised? That’s not what it says. I expect it is impossible to demand older boats comply with the RCD.

I expect it is impossible to demand older boats comply with the RCD. That’s what I would have thought, but then I would have it impossible for cart to think about evicting people from their homes without ever taking it to court. Which can’t possibly be legal, but that’s what they are intending.
