This seems to be a bit of a problem with humans in general. They have some sort of drive to get wealth then use it to overconsume.
I was just idly looking up these 100 metre superyachts and it turns out they burn in a year enough fuel to push most people's cars for about ten million miles.
Nobody is going to do ten million miles in a year but if you have the cash you are free to burn ten million miles worth of diesel and just carry on.
The sad thing is that ten million miles is only 100,000 times more than the average person does in their car and there are a lot more 100 thousands of people than there are people who can afford to run a 100m yacht.
So what will happen ?
Will we all need to reduce consumption or will something happen to sort it all out.
Being a closet optimist I reckon the latter but I do wonder sometimes.

If we donβt curb our over consumption, then something will happen to sort it out.

Dunno. It's the nature of a Capitalist system, innit? If everybody lived like me then the population would be back living in mud huts within a generation.
Would that be a good or bad thing? Dunno.

Everything will go either electric or be so heavily regulated that the average bod won't be able to afford to buy it. That will leave the guy in his gas guzzling boat to keep smiling and carrying on.

I do my little bit to recycle and re use I rarely go out in car(ok so not the most sensible car to own but less than 10 miles a week atm) Those with mega bucks will live as they chose possibly with complete disregard for the damage they inflict on the planet It is always the little man who has less who is pressurised to do more to protect our planet I hope that Ma Nature will sort it out at some time .... We have Covid..no matter how rich u are u r still at risk..possibly more so as arrogance leads to disregard of recommendations Dunno really what the answer is I will just plod on doing what I can...do not buy the grand children any plastic c......they do not get anything now that cannot be recycled.
