Now that ASDA has been sold I doubt foxy will be able to bring himself to shop in there. "It wasn’t just them that bought it, it was a group of investors including the private equity firm that owned half of the Issa’s gas station business. This is more of a pr stunt to portray Asda as being run by two working class normal people that succeeded against all odds, rather than a faceless investment firm that will focus purely on profit and sell in ten years." "Euro Garages owners Mohsin, 46, and Zuber Issa, 45, were brought up in a two-up two-down terraced house in Blackburn before they made their fortune from fuel." - nothing quite like making your fortune from polluting the planet! What sayeth Peterboat?
As for readers' comments in The Mirror: "It's pathetic that the editor only labels the suck up messages, not got the bottle to allow free speech." Does anyone know how they actually made their money? All above board, no dodgy deals, no tax fiddling? If honestly, then good luck to them. I haven't seen many ASDAs about - last one I went into was in Rugby 5 years ago. Pretty much the same food as in any other UK supermarket, prices pretty much the same. I do wonder if Loddon lives on a street in an 'Asian' neighbourhood. Somehow, I suspect not.

naughtyfox I think they made their money with some creative accounting. EG are also jointly owned with the same equity firm. EG has a debt of 7 billion. The asda deal is also financed with 4 billion of debt. We sold EG quite a few petrol site.

naughtyfox I think they made their money with some creative accounting. Dishonest Indians? Never!! I didn't know Indians were dishonest. Pakistanis and Indonesians I have experience of, yes, it does seem that a larger proportion of them are economical with the truth, compared to the general population. What's remarkable to me regarding Indians is how loudly they speak. I suppose it's a cultural thing, if a road is a mass of 2 stroke rickshaws, you're going to need to shout a bit in order to be heard.

I notice it whenever there are [word removed but referring to dark skinned Africans] about. They seem to really talk loudly. I assume it is a jungle thing and to do with a delayed evolution. A lot of animals and general noise about so having a louder voice would be an advantage, as would being tall because you can see further. Also happens with the Bengalis in East London. They stand within half a metre of each other but project their voices so you can hear them from about half a mile away. Again it could be evolution. My woman is Moroccan. She can get it going with the voice noise level but I sometimes wonder if that is evolution or something else. Her mother is incredibly loud. Maybe a woman thing in that particular case .

Maybe it’s an ‘angry with you’ sort of voice??? - I can relate to that.

@magnetman [word removed but referring to dark skinned Africans]
You couldn't just have said 'Africans'?

It could be an African thing I suppose but I find it difficult to work out racial background just looking at someone.
Take my children as an example. Half African they are but they are white as a white person so if I came across them and they were speaking loudly I would not know that it was an African thing.
On the other hand if I came across a black person talking loudly I would immediately link this with a jungle thing and the whole situation about trying to communicate over the noise of the wildlife or perhaps the white man's guns.
